Do you ever feel underconfident with your knowledge in sap? It's like a big ocean.
@myhitlife4 жыл бұрын
I feel this! Especially now with SAP Cloud certifications you have to resit them 4 times a year to keep up to date. It can be so overwhelming, but its always great to take a step back and remember the business processes first. If you understand the business processes then the SAP new or existing functionality will make sense, because it was created purely for them. I personally try to take it a project at a time. We are all humans and we don't know everything so it's important when we see that gap we spend our work time & spare time to fill it. A lot of the SAP functionality now is brand new so you could be the first one that does it. Therefore, just take a step at a time. It also helps massively if you stay in one area of SAP so then you only have to focus on the functionality updates and certifications then. No one is expected to know all of SAP. Hence why you are a SAP Functional Consultant in a certain field. I hope this helps.
@english41143 жыл бұрын
I saw some videos in your vlogs about SAP, I agree with you... work like a functional consultant is pretty good because you can travel, every new day you can do something different. But SAP is very complex system with many functionalities. Is not frustrating with 5 year of experience or more you get an incident that you have no idea how to solve? How do you deal with? What is your metodology to find a solution under project pression to delivery the result? I don´t know if you talked about this before but if possible share if us your point of view.
@myhitlife3 жыл бұрын
Even if you had 20 years experience you can be in that situation as SAP constantly evolves to keep up with new technology and make constant improvements for the solution to be more user friendly. So honestly I just always go to Google and see whether there is SAP blogs or articles out there. Or I will reach out to someone I know with more experience. And on times I will just go into the system (sandbox) and trial/error it. In those times I would obviously work overtime to get it done. If you are completely out of your depths you can raise it with your project manager to try and get assistance as well. Plus clients understand you won't know everything so its good to say, "I will have to check and get back to you". In just a circumstance where you have to not be able to judge yourself and get uncomfortable by reaching out for help if needed etc.

@@dreadynerdy6382 I left the SAP industry as honestly money doesn’t really make me happy, but also my face kind of didn’t fit. My entrepreneurship spirits just didn’t fully align. I was on a journey of personal development and I wanted to do something I loved. In the pandemic travel was no longer and I was on a client which could’ve been 5 years long! For me I like change, I like to learn constantly. As that’s not really the typical sap path. You should stay in one module. I still didn’t find my module. And in progress reviews I’d butt heads because of this. And I was around a lot of people who were on even better money & just not happy. So it made me think. I did adore my career in the SAP industry and all the opportunities it gave me, but it was time for me to move on. I feel Web3 is more my pace tbh. I didn’t realise SAP does have an innovative unit. However, even then I met someone who worked there with SAP and left in Web3. Sometimes you just want to sprint, but in consultancies companies you can’t always do that. This isn’t everyone’s experience mind, but for mine I found I was always in this position. And I felt that I was a butterfly who had to stop walking and fly. However, it made me realise I adore making people happy. I’m looking to one day work at VeeFriends in Customer Success which is just everything I’m about. With the culture & constant learning plus speed of environment. Doing side hustles or thinking differently it purely welcomed. So that’s my essay. I hope it helps!

Do you think its worth getting an SAP Certification for someone in a current business role? I'm looking to get out of being a poorly paid contractor doing supply chain clerk SAP support activities and into something more permanent with more responsibilities. I have thought about getting the CPIM along with an SAP Cert or two. However, my role is still using the ERP 6.0 for production planning but on the procurement side, they're now doing Ariba. Currently, I have an SAP Learning Hub - Procurement Edition subscription and I haven't really read a lot in my chosen edition. However, I did boot up Live Access today in the Procurement Academy Part 1. Since I'm already familiar with pp and mm transactional codes, I'm wondering if I can get away with doing Live Access (until it runs out), then find some tests materials for either TSCM52 or TSCM42, study, and then try to get certified in either one? I have two free tries that came with my purchase of the subscription. Any advice would be appreciated! :)

@@bigjuicefolife Hi my friend, what some people do when they do a career change. Is they join a SAP graduate program. This program is specifically for graduates with zero SAP experience. how this "testing" goes i.e are you using a software or trying every function this software does ?! can you please explain it for me? thanks anyways.
@myhitlife4 жыл бұрын
Hi, the testing a Functional Consultant does is called Functional Unit Testing. You perform it yourself within the SAP. For example if something was built by a developer then he tests it first doing Unit Testing and then the Functional Consultant would test it to make sure it worked and fitted the clients requirements. Or if you are just using standard SAP functionality you would create master data and test the business processes. Example of business processes to test would be Procure to Pay scenario such as create a PR, create a PO, post a GR and so on. I hope this helps. In general you create your own test scripts and then perform screenshots as you go.

Hey Royston, it's exactly the same principal for any consultant no matter the area. It's also vital to know the business process. So would highly recommend you having an accounting qualification first and then look at SAP. It doesn't have to be formal education. @@myhitlife Hi, thanks for posting this. I have watched this just now. Looking forward to your next postings regarding the topic SAP domain and your life as a consultant. One question, can you also create a video on more concrete "job shadowing" about SAP consultant? Of course due to the client security, you would not be able to open alot but e.g. what kind of meeting is being organised for what purpose, which kind of stakeholders are being involved, how the requirements are gathered, how you analyse and implement to configure the system as a consultant etc. By online-shadowing, it will be definitely beneficial for many other wanna-be followers. Or did you already upload something like this? :) Many thanks!

Thank you so much for your support! I also have a SAP Vlog playlist on my page kzbin.info/aero/PLyEkyde7Uu_PeO3PtLjMFmCx-gj2NAFJ0 I'll be uploading a couple of vlogs this week regarding GaryVee & SAP, SAP Cloud Certification and Is it worth getting into SAP :)
@myhitlife5 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah, massive apologies for some reason your comments go into the spam section and I don't get to see them. I can do Job shadowing vlogs (mainly the design gathering relevant), but I'll just talk yourself through the documents & how they are set out. I won't be sharing anything as you mentioned it's sensitive information. Plus, depending on the SAP software the documents may even differ. I've been on 3 projects this year and the documents have slightly differed. Or I can't walk you through the system as it's our company internal landscape. However, system configuration changes massively on what functional area you are in. So you would be better off YouTubing your relevant Functional area example Finance to find the configuration relevant KZbin video. If you want to selflearn a module it's very doable over the internet these days through googling. It takes a big work ethic mind, but if you got a degree! You can definitely do this to an extent as well especially with a SAP system on hand.

How much salary is one supposed to get in SAP industry especially when you are consultant in mm module?

You can Google search average salaries. I would say the salaries are pretty consistent across all modules (maybe hire in EWM as it’s new and the less supply there). Graduate starts at £25,000- £33,000 and after 3 years experience I would aim to be on £50,000. Obviously if you stay in a company you probably won’t be on that so you’d have to move

The best module is to do the one that makes you happy and which module business process you enjoy. Even myself now I've done projects with QM and MM. Plus other modules. Hi Sushil, regarding SAP ERP if you are referring to the SAP version. This is actually pretty old now for SAP. When looking at projects or certs you should be looking for S/4 HANA and ideally the latest version of it. S/4 HANA is now at 2020! There will be SAP jobs there as SAP is global. I would focus more on getting full life project experiences than certifications. But try to get a role on the latest SAP project which will make your skill set more valuable again as mentioned S/4 HANA is now on 2020. Also, worth to start sending your CV over now to jobs in Canada and seeing if they will give you one. You could reach out to recruiters in Canada for their advice as well.

Hi my friend, I had to google the module because I've never heard of it before. I generally always say any SAP is good experience, but with this one I'm not completely sure of the career switch. Your job would go through designing products basically to analysing project data. I would google how niche/ in demand this job is. And see whether you want your career to go that way. For myself even in SAP I know I don't want to go into project management roles and stay as a functional aka doing the work.
