I boil my bacon grease twice and pack it in jars to use. The salt goes into the water and the oil/fat lasts longer. I love cooking w cleaned bacon grease

My great grand parents, grand parents, parents, and me n my brothers and sisters have ate bacon on a regular basis and NONE of us have any problems. The food industries and governments LARGELY lie to us so they can get us using a new product on the market whereby that product often has a lot of problems with it versus the product they said was bad for us
@HomevertHomesteader9 ай бұрын
True, they are basically saying that we need to forget thousands of years of what really worked (even whiteout technology and electricity) and accept this new GMO Everithing instead and as k no questions. They make money from us like we were cattle - sell and feed us toxic crap that gets us sick so that they charge us an arm and a leg for more toxic crap they call "medicine" then keep us in this tango till we die and make our family keep on paying the debt we got from the previous 2 points. I wont even get into student debt and other ways they enslave us from when were born. All I know is that food is sacred and if we can be food self reliant they don't like it a bit. Thanks for watching - I appreciate your input.

Great video , thank you. Any advice on curing process for those of us living in warm countries where temperatures do not go below 25 C?
@HomevertHomesteader3 ай бұрын
Smoking and drying works best for that, and if you have an electric dehydrator or oven you can use them at the lowest heat setting to make any cured meats fast - here's how I do it in summer time when temps are similar here as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ppWud6awobyqg6Msi=RmPHUF2Wctnp4bUD Thanks for the message and have a great week.

Hi, great video :) how long would you say the finished product lasts for and how do you store it? Greetings
@HomevertHomesteader3 ай бұрын
It can last 6 to 10 months - beyond that the fat may get rancid. I mostly vacuum seal it in one time use potions or if I have any free freezer space, sometimes I store some pieces there, but that rarely happens ;) Otherwise, a dark, dry cupboard works well, a pantry or a root cellar. Moisture and temp is key - dry place and low temp ( 0 to 12 Celsius range) The thing is, for me, it rarely lasts long enough to even worry about storage space. Lastly, the best way to store it long term is buried in salt - ie a gallon jar where the pieces can sit with rock/sea salt in between them Thank you very much for your message and time. All the best.
