The Devil’s Dangerous Trap Our salvation has been purchased by the blood of Jesus - but that doesn't mean that Satan has given up trying to separate us from the only One who can save us! In fact, the devil knows his time on earth is short, and he is trying harder than ever to tempt us to sin. He is clever and oh so cunning at making worldly pleasure seem enticing. He’s an expert at disguising the evils of this world - making it seem like "it's not so bad." He makes it easier and easier to say, "Well, just this once," or "I'll enjoy the pleasures of this world, and then I’ll give my heart to Jesus." But if we yield to temptation, before we know it, we are weighed down with the guilt of our sin and sink deeper and deeper into the enemy's trap! Don't be deceived into thinking the devil is not a threat or underestimate his evil power. There’s no doubt about it - Satan is dangerous! We are cautioned in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour." But the good news is this - God is much more powerful than Satan and his hosted evil angels, and all we need to do is . . . stay close to Jesus. With Christ by our side we can resist the deceptions of the enemy and . . . victory is ours! Text: 1 Peter 5:9, Ephesians 6:16, Matthew 4:3-4, Revelation 12:11
