Heel erg bedanks🙏 I attented isk school for 2 years and didn't learn much about actual conversations and had a hard time communicating with actual dutch native speakers. Kids from my shool still make fun of me because of my polish accent so that was also a problem and I was ashamed to talk sometimes. Until I went to work part time job people are very nice to me and I got motivation to start over with dutch language. Thanks Thanks 🙏🙏

Fantastic video! Dank je wel :) For me it is quite easy to follow because I speak (some) German and the grammatical structures (e.g. afspreken - spreken af) are basically the same, and I fanatically like how Dutch sounds, it resembles me to the best time of my life when I spent three fantastic months in Amsterdam, taking courses in English language at the UvA, but logically having had many interactions with Dutch language in shops, on the tram and so on. I am following your videos, Kim, and do really hope that I will understand and maybe also speak at least a little bit Dutch soon :-)

Hello Kim, We lived in Baarn from 1992 to 1996 and learned een beetje Nederlands and now we are trying to refresh. We really like your videos and I have enrolled in your sentence structure course. I am happy with the course, but I think you may have some technical problems with the quizzes. For example, on a recent quiz, 18 of my answers were noted as correct but my final score was 12/20. Moreover, I suspect that one of my "incorrect" answers was actually correct (if hoe lang means how tall and hoelang means how long). So you may want to talk to your IT person! Meanwhile, keep up the good work. Between you and our vast collection of Dutch Donald Duck comics, we will get back in the Nederlands groove!

This may be too time consuming for you, but I feel like adding literal translations in between the original Dutch and the working translation is helpful for seeing how word order changes and how prepositions are used differently. I always pause and work out the literal before moving on to the working translation, but it takes forever since I don't know the words already. Something to consider.

Thank you for your suggestion. I get your way of learning, but I actually always tell my students not to do that, because then you’ll always keep on translating things in your head. It’s better to learn the actual constructs. In my grammar videos I do by the way, then I’ll almost always show how the literal translation would be to English so you can compare, but with videos in which I’ll teach you phrases, it’s better not to do that anymore :) but still, if it works for you, then do it! :)
