I love frugality! My husband is a multimillionaire who retired at 48. I work as a hobby; I do KZbin, write books, and am about to start a proofreading business. I so agree with you about being wise with money! We live well below our means. It’s the best strategy. Our money will stay invested for our old age, and for the next generations. Congratulations on your intelligence to handle your money well!

Oh Kate, I found you again. Idk how I just out of the blue searched for you but I was so excited to see you back. You are like a meditation to me. Listening to you relaxes me. I love your life and wish I had learned to be frugal from the beginning. Thank you for coming back.

I have several thoughts Church isn't all bad. My family greatly enjoys our church. There's a lot of outreach to others. No push for tithing. Very loving church. Too many people aren't patient enough to be truly frugal. Often, of a person will just wait the item they want will end up in a thrift store in very good condition. Years ago, there was a toy one of my kids wanted. It was about $30 new. I told them if they could wait, I would buy it at the thrift store. They forgot about it and 6 months later, it was at the thrift store for under $5. I also pick up free stuff and give a lot away. I'm not embarrassed to live frugally, either. I hang laundry to dry. I garden. I raise animals for meat and eggs. I bring home free stuff. I don't buy much new except undies and socks. I make food from scratch. I say "no" to things - many things that I don't feel bring my family value. I bought a projector off of Amazon. We painted a wall in our home white. Our "TV" is huge. We stream movies at night. We can also take the projector outside at night and play movies on the side of the house in the summer. It is so fun!

I loved your comment about only 7% of 39 million residents own their home! I had no idea but you make an excellent point about owning a home even with a low income. I was told I would never own a home. I was a single parent for so many years working minimum pay jobs, terrible credit, no down payment saved etc. Yet here I am today in a home we bought for cash, paid in full. I also had a laugh that California has the same population as the entire country of Canada!

Hi Kate, thanks for this video, I'm so glad you are back making videos on YT and hope it isn't too taxing! The length of your videos is great as I watch them while I sort laundry and do the ironing - not my favourite task - so it goes by much faster & it's nice to have the company! I have been following your books, and then videos since my children were babies then, after taking on some part time work once they were in school, and now after making the decision to go back to being a full-time homemaker on a much smaller income. Your ideas & gratitude at living a simpler, slower life has been so inspiring and encouraging. We now live comfortably on my husband's income, we own our own home (with a mortgage), a small car, a boat, have a lot of hobbies, and have a great time. I follow a budget and do envelope stuffing, which I enjoy. We don't buy things that we don't need, and as time goes by are trying to move away more and more from 'stuff'. It feels very freeing. We use our library, fix and make things, and cook from scratch, go for walks, swim in the sea, and I volunteer at our local gardens. It's a good life. That little white allium - I know it in the UK as a tricorn leek. It is edible, including the flowers, and is good in salads. All the best to you!

Love the garden! I have a very small backyard with tree roots from a neighbor’s tree. I grow veggies using horse troughs. I love finding free things that people put out. I love taking walks around the neighborhood. Recently I scored two complete sets of bath towels with the price tags still attached and 20 lbs of unopened expensive cat litter that people put out with free signs on them.

The kids are old enough to make their own beds. Problem solved. 😊 When my kids were small, their teacher told the class that they were all old enough to make their lunch. Done! They’ve been making beds since they were about five. The boys did have bunks. My sister-in-law tried to ‘fix’ the bed one day. I told her the kids made their own beds and it was perfect so stop ‘fixing’ it. Anyway, sometimes people have to hear it from someone outside the immediate family for it to make sense.

I have to wait to eat until the middle of the afternoon . Only coffee and water first. I've always been that way. I've always been a Christian, and have a personal relationship with God, have Jesus in my heart, etc. I agree with you about big churches. It's gotten out of hand.

Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I are pretty strong Catholics and I do feel very happy, kinder and a better person for it. I was away from the church for 12 years and I became miserable and my life was such a mess. I came back and am truly at peace again. That said, I don’t push my religion or faith on others. That only deters people anyway.

Thank you, I appreciate that! I forgot to mention how my faith also helps and encourages me to be a good steward of food, money, clothes, etc and to help the needy. I wasn’t doing those things when I left the church. Your channel inspires me to do the same, so I’m thankful for that. 🩵

So happy you find great deals at yard sales and for free on the street. I do too. Well, I don't really go to yard sales as much here because it's just too hot here in the valley and lately my car has been ify. I do look through the free stuff on the streets but usually at night. I'm always afraid the people are going to come out of their house and yell at me for going through their things, even though it's put out for the city to pick up. I need to get over that because I've found great things!! The bunk bed looks great. I like that they're different sizes and bigger than a twin. I'm like you where I like to read multiple books st a time. My attention spand needs variety, so I jump around but it has nothing to do with the author's writing. Have a great week ahead!

If this helps, when I put stuff out on the street, I wring my hands until someone comes along to look through it and take it away. I'm so happy to see people look and take. We want the stuff removed. So, pick through it with joy and know that the person is relieved to see it go. You are helping them clean up.

Blueberries grow wild here in the U.P. They’re usually found in clear-cut areas where there’s lots and lots of tree debris. You’re lucky if you don’t twist an ankle or fall over from the mess. Acres and acres….It’s glorious!

No attitude here just sharing my experience. Joyce Meyer ministries has been amazing about helping in communities and around the world. Her team has been present countless times to help communities rebuild after natural disasters. Their work across the globe is consistent and impressive. You can see where your money is going and it’s not to a bigger jet like another pastor I won’t name. It’s the one place I feel confident giving too. And she doesn’t ask for your savings. I only send 5 bucks and she sent a book and a workbook. I do get what you’re saying though about the majority being swindlers. But she’s not one of them. Just my opinion.

Thank you for sharing and reminding. I used to really enjoy Joyce Meyers. I haven’t watched her for a long time and you are right. Her ministry does do good works all over the world and they help small communities and Third World countries. The other ones are big-time swindlers, but thank you for reminding us that there are some ministries out there doing good works.
