i whole heartedly agree with you about self care. everyone talk about face masks, naps and baths but... for me and my health yoga and exercise in general, cooking yourself a healthy meal, cleaning my space and taking the time to meditate is much more beneficial.

that talk you did while cooking really hits home. i’ve been sooo stressed lately because of so much schoolworks that i have to do and i do still have till june to finish them all but i’m not even halfway through this school year (i’m homeschooled btw) so its really been taking a toll on me and there’s this one course that i have to take and i HATE it but i have to and my parents are pressuring me to finish it and it’s just rlly been bad for my mental health, not that i’m in a bad state mentally, i’m just the type to keep it all in and self destruct for like a few days by not doing anything i should be doing or have a breakdown and then start grinding again as if nothing just happened. so like when you were talking about how stress will always be present no matter what we do we can never get rid of it permanently, it gave me a new perspective and i hope it’ll help me not always view stress as a bad thing but instead utilize it bc stress isn’t actually always bad. idk if i still make sense but i also want to say that your vlogs have been a source of calmess and motivation for me these past few days, i strive to be as awesome as you michelle, i love you and your content a lot! i hope you did well in that midterms exam

yall are normal, dont feel like you arent. Im in med school and we learned about how tests and such still trigger the flight or fight response, because its still a threat of sorts to us. there is a third response called the "freeze" response that isnt really focused on. procrastination is a form of the freeze response, and the panic attack is the flight response. running and exercising is so great because it allows you a way to release that energy. stress makes you feel that way because its a real threat. its not trivial, its valid. we all gotta find ways to get through it and michelle over here guiding the way. have a good semester everyone.

I feel the same. It is so strange that when I feel extremely anxious I end up doing nothing and there is this weird feeling. It is like we are trying to run away from it, deny it or hoping it would cease to exist where as in the end it progressively gets worst. Ugh. But slowly I am learning and working towards building systems in life that cater to health and happiness thereby consequentially leading to keeping stress under control/ check.

aahhh i needed this. i can relate to what you said while you were cooking. i feel like there’s this massive dagger in my heart that stops me from breathing normally. it’s like something is holding my breath and i keep on sighing from time to time just to catch it. it happened before our pre-board examination. i flunked it because i can’t seem to get a hold of my system during the pre-week. i sat down on my study area with my handouts open and i can’t digest the lessons. it’s so frustrating because the intention to study and pass the test is there but my mind keeps going elsewhere. i hope we’ll get to figure things out eventually. goodluck michelle! thank you for you and all that you create.

Watched this at just the right time. I made a less than desirable grade on an exam that I thought I prepared enough for but clearly I could’ve done more. I shouldn’t tear myself up over it though. Just gotta recollect my thoughts, take care of myself, and do better next time. 💕

Didn't know I needed to hear those words so bad lmao. Like, the fact that you did it while you were cooking makes it a whole-new-level of real and intimate. It felt like we were having a chat in your kitchen. Thank you for your honesty, transparency and (obviously) the wonderful content that you share w/ us. All the love! xx

your vids are like my go tos lately and idk why i feel like its significant to mention but im a straight white college junior, i just feel like im probably a marginal viewer and thought you may find that interesting maybe im completely wrong in my assumption. i myself dont find any significance in the stated constructs but they are definitely recognizable and i just wanna say youve been making me be more conscious about my waste output and also a motivation to crack down on my studies so i appreciate the videos haha :)

aHH the music you use is 3 gymnopedies!! i made a playlist with that song recently and kept thinking "where on earth have i heard this song before?" besides the main chords being similar to animal crossing, my mind wouldnt stop tugging at me trying to figure it out. so happy i came back to watch your videos, now i found my answer!

i stumbled upon your channel today and was watching some of your videos and found out you‘re an applied physics major 😮 i was so shocked because i’m also a (regular) physics major, but also have a passion for art/graphic design/drawing as well! i’ve always wanted to start a youtube channel but never had the discipline or work ethic that you have to make consistent videos (i applaud you for that 👏🏼). and i also read a comment where u said you snowboard?? i was shocked, i feel like we are the same person. i’d love to be your friend irl, you seem like one cool gal ~

People took the term "self care" from mentally ill people (mainly those suffering from severe depression that makes it impossible to do the simplest tasks sometimes) and re-branded it into something completely different from what it started out as. I have depression and , I guess you could say, in the "community" of depressed folk self care has ALWAYS been about taking care of the things that are absolutely necessary and as simple as a shower and changing your sheets. I kinda dislike the fact that lifestyle influencers took that term and made it into a meaningless slogan to use when they need to shill for a company in their youtube video , or they put on a face mask and are like omgzz self care queen!!!Self care is literally just making sure the environment you're in is not bringing you down even more. So that means cleaning up the mess before ur house literally floods with trash. Or cooking yourself even the simplest meal when you've been running on snacks for a week because you were in the middle of an episode. Self care is so much more than simply spoiling yourself. I'm glad some people realize that.
