As an avid Tull fan, I have to say that your vocals were exceptional considering Ian has such a unique voice. Your guitar playing is to be admired. Amazing job bringing in the whole song on one instrument. Thank you from one fan to another!!

I remember sitting in new construction in the New Jersey suburbs in the 1980s sitting around 8 bit computers, stereo equipment, aluminum siding, and wretched chemical-drenched lawns and wishing I was somewhere else. You'd find me with my eyes closed on my bed with Songs from the Wood on, the only escape to another time and place I had open to me. Outside my window, the garish colors of suburban housing developments; but in my mind, it's all green fields and forests. This was wonderful; thank you!

Fantastic Song and similarly fantastic rendition. Even the great Ian Anderson had to duet with himself to sing this one. It's not surprising Anderson never sung this one live. Probably found it impossible. Thank you dear Stewart for proving him wrong.

It really is irresistible to not pucker up and (try) to blow the whistle part, isn’t it? And now damn you Stewart I have an earworm! Brilliant! Love it. Your adaptations of these songs are wonderful, frequent listening for me. They’ve been a welcome treat through this awful covid time. Thanks.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!! Man, my fretting hand got sore watching you. Once again, you show the depth of your playing ability moving from barre chords to "cowboy" chords and throw in a few licks that just amaze me. one of the many songs on my list to learn, but more on my plate than I can get through on a given day. Again, thank you Stewart for sharing your wonderful talent with us. I greatly appreciate all that has to go into you doing a 5 minute video for all of us. Cheers mate!

Thank you! I am having pangs for New York City having not been there in so long. I had a dream last night about buying a huge range of deli food at Barney Greengrass The Sturgeon King up on Amsterdam!

@@DailySporran Haha! Was there by any chance a Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray celery soda in the deli dream? Have you ever heard of it/tried it? I nearly gagged the first time I tried it maaaany years ago. 🤣 It really grew on me though and I began to love it. It was a fave among Jewish Deli aficionados as it cut through the fattiness of the pastrami sandwiches. I didn't know you'd ever been here. I have not been a "city slicker" for quite some time now, having moved (an hour or so away) upstate to Dutchess County in '94 when the kids were still young. We've taken to the quieter life beautifully and I can hardly imagine returning to the hustle and bustle of NYC. IF you ever make a return trip, I'd hope you'd contact me. I and many family members would enjoy meeting you. With several musically inclined, we could even do some jamming. 🎶😁 Not like me to invite strangers to visit, but sometimes you just gotta go with the gut feeling that someone's ok. You've got friends in Tull here! It would be nice to meet you in person, and you'd be most welcome. Stupid covid permitting of course. Perhaps one day. Stay well and thanks again for further brightening up the day! (As a relatively new retiree, every day is bright! 😂) Bob P.S. I don't post a comment on all of the videos, but know that I appreciate and love them all.

@@DailySporran Wow! I never resided inside NYC but did nearby for some times, and this is the first I ever heard about Barney Greengrass. It's far uptown past Columbia U, and quite pricy. For a bit more you could go to Keens in Herald Square for their signature mutton chop otherwise their beef steak or chop specialties. Ever been there? And back to Barney Greengrass, can you recommend any comparable fish delis in London or other places in Blythe?

At your age!? C'mon Lord Anfield you're never too old to rock 'n' roll...!! Yet another masterful rendition to add to your canon - our memory fills in The Missing Whistle (good album title there) and the lovely little lines from Martin Barre which I think are just as important in the overall hook. The modulation sections sound almost flamenco too without the top line. Brilliant stuff and thanks again for uploading.

That was stellar once again Stewart! With the whistle it's a super energetic and motivating song and without it, it is as well as Martin proved on the 25th anniversary box set and you here of course. I had people listen to Martin's instrumental version over the years who were not Tull fans and ask me instantly where they could get a copy of it. They never guessed who the band was. They played it live at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island many years ago and my sister who happened to be with me and is a big rock fan and had gone to dozens off concerts but knew very little of Tull said after that song that Martin was the best guitarist she had ever heard live. I can listen to Martin's version a dozen times in a row and now I can say the same about yours. Thank you!

Stewart, Hi. I came to KZbin looking for a cover of 'Singing All Day' and found you and your Tull covers for the first time. Now I have a problem - I want to sit here and listen to your singing and comments one song after another until I have heard them all. But I have work to do, so I can't. I'm wondering how soon I can get done and come back to the computer. You, sir, have made my year. Many thanks from a wet February in France.

The singles charts are kind of an odd thing for bands like Jethro Tull. The Whistler may have only made it to No. 59 on the U.S. charts, but I distinctly remember it being a very popular tune on the radio, as was Cup of Wonder. I assume the reason it was hard for prog bands to sell a lot of singles is their fans bought albums, not singles.
