Hi Emily! What perfect timing on your part because I’m sitting here waiting for an appointment and needed something to help me calm down my anxiety and here you are! Always helping me out 🤗 Thank you so much! I also had an idea about buildable makeup: let’s say you had to get ready quickly for something like an event at your kids’ school or a work event but you only have 15-20mins to get ready then later you have a date night or a girl’s night out and don’t have time to redo your whole makeup so you build on what you did before. I believe you have a version of this for when you did the hourglass retouching fluid review. Anyway, just a thought I had because I’ve had this happen to me. Hope you’re having a fantastic day!! ☀️

For when the black ends of your RT brushes get "gummy", rub some cotton pad doused in rubbing alcohol! it'll get rid of the gummy film and it'll just become smooth plastic again :) it works for anything that has that texture! i did it for my Wet brush once too

What do you think is the lifespan of the average brush? Do you use them until they start shedding? Or do you just declutter every so often like with makeup?

Hi, Emily. I'm back watching you after many years away. What I'm happy about coming back is that I'm seeing you still recommending great products that you were using then. Hey Emily! Love your recommendations! I've been using e.l.f. and EcoTools brushes forever! I've recently found some Sigma brushes at TJMaxx or Marshalls for $8. to 10. each; the angle-cut Kabuki and angle-cut mini-Kabuki brushes are quite a treat for me, great for blending creams or powders; glad I bought two of each! I also picked up a BH Cosmetics shadow blender for $6. or 7., wish they had another one! But my all-time favorite is a short-handed Nat Robbins blush brush I bought probably 30 years ago; I can't remember where, but it has natural hair bristles with a wooden handle, travel size I guess, it always fits into my small purse-sized makeup bag. It's just indescribable! Anyway, thanks for your tips and tricks! PS sometimes I use a disposable sponge-tipped applicator for concealer on my sun spots, I find it works better than a brush. Well, thanks for sharing your expertise!

I bought the ELF Highlighting brush to use for highlighter and the Real Techniques 402 Setting brush for setting powder. I like them better now that I switched their use per your recommendation! I have collected so many random eye brushes from various places that I get lost trying to find what I need. I may need to just put them in a drawer away from my reach and see if I have any that match or are similar to the five you just used because I've never had an eye look come together as quickly as you just accomplished that beautiful look! I do not have the ELF Complexion Duo brush, but I use the RT 200 Expert Face Brush for my foundation product as well as my concealer and I also use the RT 300 Deluxe Crease brush to work my concealer into the smaller places as well. I got a RT brush set on Amazon for around $12 or something and it's great! Thanks for your thorough and detailed explanations as always! :)

Loved this video❣️I recently splurged on some Rephr eyeshadow brushes but it still find myself using my Elf and Eco Tool brushes more. However, during a huge sale of BK Beauty, I purchased some of their face brushes, and I am so impressed by their quality!!!! I do have to admit that my most used brushes are Eco Tools and Elf!!! I use my more high end brushes for my more glam looks. If I had the money, I would definitely buy everything from BK Beauty❤️ But Elf really rocks their game when it comes to brushes and their sponges!!! My fave eyelash curler is the Rephr! It is the only one that grabs all of my lashes as I have more almond shaped eyes.

The rubbery bottom part of my Real Techniques brush got all sticky, too. I covered the whole bottom part with Scotch transparent tape and voila! No more stickiness to deal with! And the transparent tape gives me a shiny, smooth bottom to hold.

My favorite drug store brushes are Real Techniques and Eco Tools. However, over the last few years I have slowly replaced all of them with BK Beauty brushes during their Mother's Day and Black Friday sales. I realized that the amount of money I was spending of trying different low cost brushes added up to the same or more and just getting the higher end brushes and sticking with them. It's been a gift to myself twice a year to get a few more brushes and it's been fun to collect them. The Angie set has been great for me as I have hooded eyes and they are smaller. You are my favorite YT'er and I SO look forward to your videos!

The ELF small tapered brush was a good one, but a couple good replacements that I love are the Wet n Wild P65/Precision Setting brush (their nicer Pro brush line is lovely) and the Sephora Pro 79/Pro Contour brushes. I love the Sephora one so much I have 2 of them! They aren't quite as pointed, but are still great at getting powder right where you want it, including the undereye. Highly recommend both!

You want a perfect dupe for a beauty blender? Sponge hair rollers. Best part is that it is a lot easier to hold and clean because of the hole in the center. Also I got my favorite brushes from Kroger. They don’t sell them anymore. When you buy elf brushes just go to the hardware section and get some super glue. When it comes apart just glue it back together.

I literally SCOURED your videos to find this one because I desperately needed help with figuring out which brush was best for each item, after going through so many not-so-great brushes and having my application look muddy or patchy. (Or it was a good brush, but I was using it wrong lol) You’re the only influencer I trust, thank you for always being so thorough and for being someone who encourages using affordable products! I’ve followed you for almost 10 years now (around the time I started REALLY getting into makeup) and you’ve basically molded my entire outlook on makeup lol I can’t believe I never actually paid attention to which brushes you’ve been using. I guess I was so focused on the products themselves. Every time I’m curious about a product or something new comes out, I know to come here first! 😂 Anyways, thank you for helping this newbie all those years ago to not be intimidated or overwhelmed by the massive and over-saturated world of makeup! And if I haven’t seen a video of a certain thing yet, I know I can scour through again and eventually find it 😅 and I know I’m definitely not the only one who’s so thankful for your channel. The fact that you don’t have 10 million+ subscribers is honestly a crime. Much love! 💕

Have you tried the Milani highlighter brush for targeting powder, like the under eyes? It works great and is a little better imo than the RT highlighter/setting brush. I also love RT buffing brush as a concealer brush and the Flower beauty shader brush. Those work great, especially the more dense Flower Ultimate eye shadow brush. It is like a smaller version of their concealer brush. Milani and Sonia Kashuk and Flower Beauty brushes I think are great affordable options that compare to high end brushes. I even like them a lot more than my Sigma and Tom Ford, etc brushes. Eco Tools has the best eye brushes if you have smaller eyes. It makes a huge difference too when you have a brush that fits your eye shape/size. And all these brushes keep their bristles and their handles😂

Some of my gems: Real techniques small countour brush for concealer, for foundation: Real Techniques, NYX and Moda, for blush: Real Techniques and Moda, for setting powder: Elf blush brush, for highlighter: Real techniques setting brush and Moda radiance brush, for bronzer: Ecotools bronzer brush along with a couple of flat brushes from Real Techniques and Moda. Eyeshadow brushes: Moda pros are my favorite, and for brows an ABH brush that no one else can duplicate. Great video!

Hi Em! I know you're not a huge fan or Morphe, but the Morphe x MakeupByAriel brushes are insane and have become a must have. The face set specifically! I seriously recommend you try them. They're in another league all their own! Also, E.L.F just came out with a "Putty Bronzer Brush", but it's way too small for bronzer. I LOVE it for concealer though! Lastly... there's a brand called Complex Culture. There a little expensive, but their Press & Set Bronzer brush is our of this world soft and has become a STAPLE. LOVE YOU EM! and yes. I do remember you talking about the Essence of Beauty Duo. Omg. Brought me BACK.

I know I'm late to the party watching this video. I had a long day at work. 🙁 Since you mentioned the Elf tweezers I'll definitely try them. My personal favorite is the Revlon black ones, although I'm not sure of the specific name. I do not wax my eyebrows and won't let anyone touch them so I tweeze them myself. I spent a good chunk of money on a pair by the brand Tweezerman awhile back, and I was so terribly disappointed. They were almost too sharp if that makes sense. They would literally cut the eyebrow hair before it could even pull it out. Never again! I've tried quite a few brands but Revlon ones are definitely my fave. But the next time I need a new pair of tweezers I'll try the ones that Elf makes. Thanks Emily! 🙂

Enjoy every second with your babies while they are little! My 3 kiddos are 16, 15, and 12. I'm lucky they still enjoy hanging out with their dad and me but I'm painfully aware that the time we have left with them as "kids" is limited so I treasure it.

So very true😔 My daughter is 27, my son is 22, I'd give anything to have that time back...goes by way too fast. I'm glad you are aware and enjoying every moment💛

Love seeing the photos & vids of your kids playing & enjoying themselves & each other. And you enjoying them. So sweet. It’s true - the simple things done together are what they will look back on & remember with such warmth when they are older. Everyone is more relaxed when you’re not dropping a bundle of dough on a special event. Plus, there’s no place like home. And the hood. Enjoy all these precious moments. You’re a great Mom! XOX

I still have the Essence of Beauty brushes that you mentioned. They used to be part of my daily eye makeup application. I need to find them and get reacquainted with them.

Based on your recommendation, I purchased the Sephora 56 Brush for cream product application and absolutely love it. Thank you! A brush I've recently found that I'm absolutely in love with is Huda Beauty's Tantour Brush which is double ended. The smaller end works absolutely perfectly for applying cream contour to the nose. I can't be without it!

Thank.you for not showing the brushes and tools but HOW they're used. I didn't know to bounce the Beauty Blender. Imagine I used it to smooth out anything from.fingers or brush. I got scared when people were using them.wet to apply powder. I like the smoothness under eyes and they don't take away the corrector eye cream . On the face its been a mystery. Question how do you app!y liquid cheek color?
