As a Bayern Munich fan i can tell you that Robben is really loved in Bavaria. Everone here saying hes one of the biggest club legends. The "fans" booing him vs the Netherlands friendly after his missed penatly vs Chelsea were just a small group of idiots. The big big majority knows that Robben was one of the reasons why we had this amazing era. The only thing even i disliked about him was his diving from time to time. He really didnt need that because of his class. His selfish style / not working back was a problem at first but over the years he really started working for the team more. And individually he was just insane. If it wasnt for his injuries im 100% people wouldve talked about Ronaldo, Messi AND Robben. Also insane to always fight back form injuries and actually coming back even stronger .. Robben just loved football and you could always feel that. His amazing goals aswell as his likeable character off the pitch will always be remembered in Bavaria, it would be nice to see him work in the club, he always gave you the feeling to also be a really smart guy who could make it as manager etc.

I remember how incredibly happy I was when Bayern München finally removed the rumors around Ricardo Quaresma coming to Bayern and purchased Arjen Robben from Real Madrid. Ribery, at that time, was the only creative world class player we had that could with one action decide the game. That was enough in the Bundesliga...but not in the champions league. You could immidiately tell...the first game Robben/Ribery played that not only Bundesliga teams would have to now deal with two world class wingers...each with completely different strengths and weaknesses. But still, the most important transfer was Javi Martinez...and moving Lahm behind Robben. Martinez immidiately closed the incredible holes left by having two highly offensive wingers... Lahm gave Robben the security he needed to play risky...knowing he can loose the ball and Lahm will be right there winning it back. In today's football I personally believe a classic defensive 6 is the most important position... tactically. Unfortunately there are thousands of central midfielders that are offensive all-rounders (box to box )...but find me a Dieter Eilts, Marcel Desailly, Javi Martinez, Nicola Berti, Jens Jeremies, Casemiro, Gattuso....a central midfielder that foremost does defending...reading the enemies team and it's offensive play, that tackles...steals the ball and immidiately sends a counter pass upfront, that man marks the enemy teams creative central midfielders, that has tactical intelligence and knows when to aggressively tackle everything that comes near his half....

And they also rejected Huntelaar, van der Vaart and Sneijder. Sneijder became the CL winner right after as well, winning against the Bayern of Robben in the final. Only van der Vaart couldn't be sold in time, partly because his wife had cancer. At the time I was secretly hoping Sneijder would get angry, and Real could make a nagotiation deal with Bayern, switching Ribery (who wanted to go to Real Madrid at the time) for Huntelaar, Sneijder, van der Vaart and Robben, who are all Dutch. On top of that Bayern had a Dutch coach and the world cup came right after and The Netherlands as well as Spain where the favorits (and also ended up in the final).

You guys are just twisting things trying to find an agenda. It's football, players that may not work in certain moments of the team, they don't fit in, they are on a loop of poor performances, a low moment having constant physical issues... and life changes, you can get back on track, find a team that you fit in... Let's not be ridiculous.

@@AnaCamp001 No, Real Madrid first bought all kind of Dutch players but never let them play together despite they were better. Then suddenly they sold them all while buying Ronaldo, Kaka, name them. I think that the Dutch would have become the champion of the world if they all went to Bayern and where used to play together. Especially with Louis van Gaal beïng the trainer from Bayern Munchen. At the same time Real wanted Ribery and visa versa, but couldn't afford them. I think Real Madrid could have made a beautiful deal selling all their Dutch players for Ribery, but they sold them all apart. Don't forget, Ronaldo came to Real Madrid to win the Champions League, Sneijder, Robben, name them left Real Madrid to win the Champions League and succeed before he did.

I genuinely believe United would have another Champions League if it wasn't for this unit. 2010. We're coasting. Bayern are doing nothing. (They reached the final that season in the end, but looked dead and buried.) Suddenly, last minute (I think), BOOM! Robben cuts in, lets loose, they're through. And I had to stand up in my living room and just clap.

It’s fucking crazy how you knew exactly what he was about to do when he cut left but there was no way to stop it, just had to pray he fuckin missed. Incredible player.

What amazes me is that he moved predictably but stoping him was very very difficult 😀

So painful that the Netherlands lost out on a world cup title for a third time. It was such a good team in 2010, but alas the Spanish squad that summer was out of this world. If only it had been third time's the charm for NL players like Arjen Robben, Wesley Sneijder and Robin van Persie would have that world cup trophy for the extra recognition. That near last minute Iniesta goal forever changed football history.

It took a while to really land in Munich. He was a very egoistic person. Since Bayern bought him I wanted to sell him every season because of that even tough he was a great player. But then after the season with second places in all tournaments... after he wanted to shoot a penalty so bad that instead of the player who always shoot them... he was booed for it by the fans. And that did something in him. In the next season, the triple season, he was fabulous. He now acted more as a team player than ever. Because of that, he played better, you could see that something in him just broke free. It was amazing. And since that, I never wanted to sell him again. It took him a while. But he did learn it in the end. (Same, btw. with Lewandowski later on and Sane last year)

Such an incredible player. My goat is cr7, the most entertaining to me is ronaldinho, but robben is right up there in terms of my fav ever even though he pulled the same trick like 95% of the time lol (if he didnt then it was either a pass to lahm or he would cut inside and then shoot himself). Such simplicity but it always worked and it was just marvelous to look at. Thank u arjen robben for all the memories man, truly truly one of my fav players ever, an absolute legend (lets be for real, how many can actually become world class with "only one skill"?). Always have and always will love this guy.
