Its not £359 Million, its 35 Million in todays money based on inflation.... The fact that he broke these records with essentially a mid table club (Newcastle) is amazing, he had it all pace, power, grit, determination, strength, he was superb at penalties, free kicks, had a thunderous volley, could pick out player with very good passing, he was a good all round striker, and if you didn't see his name on the score sheet it was a surprise. Remember the game even back in the late 90s and early 2000s, there was no VAR, there was no rolling around the floor crying like a little girl, there was a lot less protection, players just got stuck in and hoped for the best, the game was MUCH more physical then it is today. Had shearer gone to a bigger club I suspect his goal count would have been even higher and he would have won things, and his name would have had more recognition around the world even today. STILL a legend of that era though. I thought Kane may have broken his all time record, as he is a modern day version with similar attributes, Haaland could break it if he sticks around, but outside of pure goalscoring, Haaland isn't a patch on the likes of Shearer, Kane, Henry, etc.

As a Geordie, I have often wondered ''what if'' Shearer had of signed for Sir Alex's united side, his achievements may rival Cristiano Ronaldo's in terms of trophies and recognition. Let's not forget, Man Utd in the late 90's and early 2000's won numerous prem title,s FA cups and Champs league 98-99. Imagine Shearer playing alongside Giggs, Beckham, Scholes and Keane - A team built to attack, his record would have been amazing with service from those guys. Playing for Man U would have increased his exposure to a global auidnace, especially in the champs league - he could have earned recognition in a Ballon' dOr even. You know, a final thing I consider is Man U's depth and sports science, it might have helped him a bit as the physical toll he endured at Newcastle, where he carried the team week in week out being the focal point of attack - with more support and squad rotation at Utd. his career might have been extended at the highest level. In my hypothetical view, I feel Shearer could have reached 350-400 Goals at Man U in the Prem, Porbably around 50-80 in the Champs League, Another 50-100 in Domestic and around the same in International 50-70, giving a hypothetical total of 550-650 goals in all comps. But we'll never know - but what we do know is; he will always be one of our local heroes, a player who valued passion over prestige and in many ways, that makes his legacy even more special. 🙋♂⬛⬜

Alan shearer is one of if not the best goal scorer ever. He played back when it was harder to score and he’s done in the prem and not always for the very best clubs

0.34 - Euro 20m in 96 does not translate to Euro 266m in 2024…more like Euro 40m with inflation. No great surprise, there was a lot less money in the game back then.

bro I wouldn't consider myself a football fan but I enjoy your content, you've got a great formula here. also if someone has truly mastered a skill I respect them and take note of the beauty and brilliance ... always liked Berbatov ( Zidane, Ronaldinho and Cristiano ) such a cool character. I prefer rugby and if anybody would like to no why, just ask.

Inflation is nowhere near that. He signed for £15 million which, in todays value, would be £29,428,496.70 with inflation

@@scotttowers1759 no you've adjusted for inflation relative to national inflation not specifically football market inflation, big man. It's not hard to see because just looking at transfer values today £29 million is nowhere near a record transfer globally.

What a load of crap. He'd have been worth 40 million euros according to normal inflation. You could argue that inflation in football has gone up significantly faster than other areas but you've just plucked those figures out of thin air. I'll not be watching another of your vids.

Zlatan is really inspiring, choosing to play at AC Milan at 41 and winning Serie A. While most players that age are fat, retired or playing at 3rd rate dollar store football teams for stupid amounts of money. Zlatan is REAL champion. and football needs more players who are willing to challenge instead selling out and taking the easy route and calling themselves the GOATs.
