This is why I consider WataMote to be peak slice-of-life Japanese highschool fiction. The core message is very encouraging, that everyone can be different and shine in their own ways if one takes time, effort and a little courage to break out of their own shell. Almost all the characters are extremely quirky, but they are friends, in their own ways. I wasn't done sentimentally, but rather humorously which made those sentimental moments hits even harder. The fact that the animation did not reach the relationship building act in the comic demonstrates the showrunners had zero interest nor understanding of the source material. Might as well not animate the thing in the first place.

4:15 Honestly, I find it a little sad that the rest of the world doesn't really have stuff like that. The only public bathhouses I've ever heard of in the U.S. were a gay thing in big cities like NYC, and I think I read they got shut down. So it's kind of just something most of us see in anime and stuff but never have a chance to try in real life even if we wanted to. Actually, I'm not sure if something like that would work very well in the U.S., honestly. It'd probably work better in Europe than it would here. We're just weirdly squeamish about nudity compared to most of the world. Also, some of us are not very considerate of others.

how do you make friends in an mmo? find someone sitting in public talking with people, walk up to them, insult their outfit, get into a fashion contest, request access to guild. Always worked for me. Uncertain if would work in final fantasy MMO.
