Whenever I think of celebrity chefs like Alton Brown, shows like "Cutthroat Kitchen" come to mind. The "serious" attitude that he puts into shows like that make it that much more fun to watch, in my opinion! With that being said, I wish Food Network would have Alton on more often over Guy Fieri, who is literally on all the time with "Guy's Grocery Games" and "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives." Who else is getting sick of seeing Guy all of the time?

Extremely late reply, but exactly. Meanwhile my garlic press is in constant use because I apparently like to have bad breath on a regular basis and it works substantially better at speeding up the entire getting-cloves-of-garlic-into-tiny-bits-and-into-a-pan/bowl process than anything else in my kitchen (and keeps the reek contained to its designated device, instead of rendering a food processor garlicky until it can be properly washed). Single use tools are amazing when they're genuinely the right tool for the job and it's a job the things you cook on a regular basis require.

My feelings about certain unitaskers, like fancy produce peelers and corers, is to only buy them if you are going to use them A LOT. Like, buy a strawberry corer if you make a bath tub's worth of strawberry jam every year, or an avocado cutter if you are on some weird avocado diet.

OK, I own a set of those Wolverine claws and I agree that there are simple ways to shred meat with stuff already in the kitchen, but I use mine to remove large items from the grill. They actually are handy for that. As unitaskers go, they aren't all that bad. They don't take up much space and have no parts to break. And let's face it, no other kitchen gadget lets you instantly transform into Wolverine. How cool is that! Am I right or am I right?

The point is though that for the most part, the frequency of use doesn't justify the clutter. Of course having 1 or 2 unitaskers is acceptable, it's easy for people to go overboard and just end up with a lot of junk they basically never use.

Lol I like using alternatives and we buy spinach noodles etc. In my case it's just another vehicle to shovel nutrition veggies into better half(since kiddo himself is not the one with the avoidance issues). Although that someone could find the blades broken bits in things is outright terrifying.

The Hamilton Beach breakfast sandwich maker actually works great, and I use it at my office to make breakfast sandwiches from Thomas' English muffins, Canadian Bacon, an egg, and some cheese. Time it for about 4:40 seconds and it will come out perfect. You can even scramble the egg first in a paper cup before adding it to the sandwich maker. Season with a little salt, pepper, and hot sauce and you've got a great sandwich, with fresh ingredients, that's better than your local fast food restaurant.
@Geek_Chef5 жыл бұрын
Agree......perfect eggs.....perfectly toasted muffins. I just use ham lunch meat and it works great. Instead of using a toaster and a pan....this does it all in 4 1/2 mins and it wipes clean. The breakfast sandwich maker is great.
