In 2018, he announced his retirement from full-time driving, and in the last round in Newcastle, he was involved with a collision in pit lane with Scott Pye. Lowndes was audibly fuming, screaming, swearing, thrashing around in the cabin. I feel that was the first time we've ever seen a truly angry Lowndes. I won't be popular with my comment but after his Redbull era, he indeed seem like a guy who won his 4 championships because of the great cars between 2010-2013. I won't take away from him that he drove well in 2010 and 2012 but since 2014 he destroyed what he built up during the Redbull days. Let's not forget he also did not win starting lower than P3. I think that's what is separating him from Lewis and Max
@chadultrapromax1735Күн бұрын
A 4 time WDC is still a 4 time WDC. It's very hard to win in Ferrari because they are Ferrari. Hamilton and max also had great cars when they won. You can't compare drivers that are multiple time WDCs anyways imo.
@Miklos211Күн бұрын
@@chadultrapromax1735 I can compare them at times when they didn't have a good car. Both Hamilton and Verstappen won from impossible positions, both performed miracles when they didn't have a car capable of winning. Just look at Verstappen in 2016-2020. His car was 2nd or 3rd best usually, yet the managed to win at least once every year. Even this year he doesn't have the best car anymore, yet the is bringing in podiums. That's what I never saw in Vettel. Once the car wasn't capable of winning, he kept binning it over and over again. In Aston he burned out completaly afterwards and decided it was enough
@danmatthews1281Күн бұрын
I agree, vettel won and that is an achievement of course, he could never outperform his car, I always say, true talent shows in the rain, great equaliser of cars, Schumacher at hungaroring, verstappen at Brazil more than once, vettels limits were the car, he couldn’t make it do any more to get an extra tenth
@manighty-x9437Күн бұрын
Bruh, another one nitpicking that one stat about Vettel, completely ignoring every single time when Vettel drove from the back on the grid to podium positions. And also, he proved multiple times that he can achieve great things in weak cars. (2021 Aston Martin was garbage and he still achieved 2 podiums with it, the 2017 Ferrari was at no point the best car and he still was a title contender, just to name a few) Edit: The 2017 was far from weak, but it wasn‘t the best
@danmatthews1281Күн бұрын
Yes there is some results in there compared you would expect a 4 time world champion, not consistently every race was he on par with the greats, if you could pick any driver as the best would you say he stands out in 20 years over others, tell me a stand out race where you feel he was a great, keen to see other opinions
