@Autogefuhl, I think it's great that you are branching out to other forms of mobility as mobility is starting to play an even bigger role not just in the need for the world to be truly sustainable but for how people will live, work and socialise in the future. As you also pointed out in the video that air quality is being recognised as a major factor in the deterioration of people's health and well being today, and the number of people watching your videos from big cities is increasing all the time which means that this is starting to become a lot more relevant to people. London already has a few only electric bus routes with the USB charging ports and it won't be long before we start seeing these ECitaros buzzing about. Citaros were once popular in London in the form of the 15m bendy bus but that caused so many problems in terms of causing traffic, catching fire and killing a lot of cyclists which is why they were taken off. These Citaros will be a welcomed sight once gain and i look forward to seeing them.

Enjoyed your review as always. Cheap fuel, the infrastructure of the roadways, and the low density of housing still limits the use of buses where I live in Colorado USA. But the day is coming sooner than we think when driving an automobile, especially one propelled by a fossil fuel, will be a luxury. I am one who appreciates the broad coverage that you always do of automotive-vehicle transportation.

As batteries take over, disposal and recycling of old batteries should become more cost effective. I think that the manufacturer should be responsible for changing out the batteries and recycling or refurbishing old ones.

Mercedes body and drivetrain. Buses and coaches are different than cars in that the body could be built by one manufacturer and platform & drivetrain by another. Hence it could have two different logos... But yeah, in this case they should the dropped the little one.
@hseochin6 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely correct. .i'll say that what should have been done in this case of the eCitaro is to size a smaller size star logo & increase the space seperation between the M-B coin badge & the star logo, like how it's done with the last generation facelift Citaro. That placement is about right in the proportion & spacing. They should not go overboard with change for the sake of change & instead stick with what's 'proven' & only 'change' if there's any 'real case' to do so. High time Daimler exercise more consistency across their entire product portfolio & communicate this philosophy to their various design people in the various vehicle types so that everybody can speak the same design language ! This makes it also easier on the customer perception on what to expect each time they look at a Mercedes-Benz irregardless of type or model.

@Autogefühl; Electric buses typical use nominal 600 V battery / motors. What is nominal voltage for the ECitaro? Is the CCS charger HPC CCS (350 kW class)? What is max kW charging? Are Oppcharge (reverse roof pantograph) planned for ECitaro?

It's a start, but they can and will do so much better with a roof full of PV's. Lose the fabric seats...bad idea! They will most likely go to high power recharging with a high power charger mounted on the roof that could allow ultra fast recharging modules perhaps in 440V?

A city bus does not drive with average 40 km/h, more like 15-20 km/h because it spend a lot of its time at bus stops.
