I love the tin and the colours, pink 👍a colour I am warming to recently. How is it when others don't get straight lines it looks amazing but with me it looks rubbish 🤷♀️ I have deliberately tried it cos I like it. Lol getting the gold leaf out your system, it looked better than I remembered. I making long narrow shelves for stuff I need at hand as my craft table is over crowded. I dug out the pringle tubes last night for re organising, they might see a coat of paint ha! Thank you I loved this.

I think it is really pretty & you are being too hard on yourself. You are so talented. I am also working on a tin with mouldings only base coated so far. More layers to come. Have you ever had your polyurethane leave a white cast on your projects? I just finished a tray and it looked awesome until I put the topcoat on, it blurred my colors together. Black base coat with silver highlights, now I have to go back and repaint the mouldings to get the contrast back.
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Hmmm I’m not sure if it’s the same kind of varnish, the only poly based varnish I use is Yacht varnish and I haven’t had that issue with it.. it has happened with my water based glosses tho, maybe not as much as you’re saying, it can happen if I’m applying 5-6 coats of it, the varnish builds up and can make the picture underneath appear a bit faded 🤔
@GypsiesandInk4 жыл бұрын

You did an awesome job, beautiful colors, love the waxes, & the mold! This gave me inspiration to take the chance & work on some tins that I’ve had stashed. I worked on the molds today, (still waiting on some PVA glue from Amazon) however, I did try a different glue and will find out tomorrow if it adhered to the tin, or if I will need to hold out until my PVA comes. Like you say, it’s all a learning process and I’m great full that you share your experiences & creativity!

I love it! I personally love everything you do- your "style" and process happens to be my jam. As a writer and fellow crafter who has recently been doing similar type projects on glass bottles, old vases and my most recent (a small terra cotta pot I just did yesterday), I understand what you mean by looking at something too long. We can see the minor imperfections and it can be difficult to get your original vision out of your head and think your project isn't "good or good enough". BUT, those slight imperfections ground it in YOUR personal artistic Truth/Reality and actually add to the overall "handcrafted" element that others love & resonate with (most of the time to be honest, no one else notices the slight flaws at all!). From a creative writers perspective; giving yourself permission to just CREATE and allow what wants to come out vs what our preconceptions may be, IS THE THING that is so beautiful and unique- just like YOU!

And I like how you doubt if you personally like it -- very honestly, authentically and actually this is really helpful to the audience (because i am sure everybody was in a situation of doubt). It's beautiful! You did look at it too long. I do that, too. Also, have you ever tried blue "painter's tape" instead of the masking tape? You can get it in most hardware stores (whenever we're allowed to go into shops/stores again!!) It is specifically for painting (walls, furniture, crafts, whatever). And the strongest glue that I've ever used for gluing small decorations on my projects is E6000. Amazon has it. They have the blue painter's tape, too. Your work is very inspirational and I will definitely be trying something similar! Thanks for sharing all your great knowledge and ideas!
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Thank you dear, yes I’ve used e6000 in the past, I don’t know why I forgot about it! 🤦♀️ thank you for reminding! And I keep thinking about painters tape but then when it comes to it I always forget about it! Probably because it’s plastic compared to masking tape which is paper ( not that it makes much difference because both have to go in general waste and can not be recycled 🤔) thank. You for all the suggestions, I’ll have to look in to them 🙈

I think it turned out beautiful. My question: do you glue the mold onto project before it dries and continue on and paint it too? How does it dry and does it shrink?
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I glue the mould on to the project while the clay is still wet, it becomes hard when dry so I wouldn’t be able to glue it on to a curved surface when dry. I then wait for the clay to dry (usually about 16-24 hours). It’s air dry so you don’t have to do anything for it to dry. It does shrink a little when dry so I usually keep a bit of crack filler on hand to patch up any gaps that appear ☺️

It’s beautiful. I love the paint color and the image. You are really good at explaining what you are doing and what works and doesn’t work for you. Perhaps the questions people leave would make good video ideas, for example the one about applying the moulds to the tin and the computer image question. Other people might have the same question and not even realize it, or even read other people’s comments and the answers. You could answer one or more per video in more depth, with a real time demo just of the mould applying step, for example, and maybe the phone could be set up to see the computer screen if that was possible? To be honest I would like to know how to do that! Call the videos answers to questions about.... Anyway, just thoughts, they may not be useful at all😊.

Thank you so much! I've never decoupaged with fabric, it's on the list of things to try hehe :D You can use watered down school pva too, the only thing is that school glue can sometimes yellow over time a little bit so I wouldn't use it for projects that you might sell etc but it's great for practice.
