I do have an suggestion you could use some vary light sandpaper say 1000 grit to wet sand the jar inside the same wash container that you soaked the jar in in order to remove the paper label sanding it while in the water filled container will prevent any glass dust from getting into the air next once'd sanded and dried you can apply a glued paper towel or you can use baby wipes they are made of a good quality almost cloth like cotton paper just lay them out individually so they can dry then glue them onto the surface of your glass jar the sanded surface of the jar will help to prevent any delamination of the paper overlays and should you ever brake the jar the thick paper towelettes overlay will help prevent glass from going everywhere on top of this the paper overlays will hold the painted color much longer
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! that is a great tip! you know I've tried sanding glass before but I never got far because of the dust! I never thought about wet sanding! thank you! and the baby wipes or paper towels are also a great idea! You could even use them to add texture as well, like scrunch them up in places to alter the shape a little! thank you for your great suggestions!

It turned out so beautiful!!! It looks like something my Grandma from Germany used to have. She only had the finest, most expensively beautiful things in her house. Now I need to find out where to get a coffee container like that. If not, I'm sure I could try some other kind of jar. If mine turns out just half as lovely as yours, I'll be happy!! Thank you so much for showing us how to do this!!!
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! You could definitely do this with a different shape too :) I'm sure yours will turn out just as pretty!

@@IvetaZiedina next time you can scratch the label with a fork, smear butter or peanut butter over the label. The oil will go into the cuts and lift the label and then you wash with warm soapy water. Done.
@fritula6200 Жыл бұрын
One method:- To take off the label: use heat from yr hair drier: PS: don't leave the nozzle of the h/d too long in one spot the glass will crack you may cut yr hand: The heat melts the glue and the label, lifts off.

Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Can you wash your coffee jar since you are using it to store coffee, I mean you need to wash the jar each time you need to put new coffee powder cos you don't want to mix the old coffee with freshly grinded one.

Yep, the jar can be washed from the inside, you just need to be careful not to get the outside too wet ☺️

the thing that blows me away is all the colors you dry brush on after its painted to create a multi dimensional look. I am trying to do the same and having no luck at all. I don't have the years of experience you have, no training, and apparently no imagination. I have a bottle painted all black with gold paper accents and gold clay filigree and want so much to have it turn out with your flair. Help!!! What colors can I dry brush on to create a beautiful work of art? I won't finish it until I hear from you. Thank you.

Haha, that’s because I’m really bad at talking and I always lose my thought in the middle of the sentence so there’s a lot of tripping over my own words, umms and other stuff that I have to edit out. Trust me, otherwise it would be completely unwatchable 🙈 I’m much better at just showing things than talking about them 😂

Can you please explain the difference between the Polyvine varnish and the Wilco's gloss varnish? Why do you need to use both? I am also wondering if I can use gesso for my difficult surface primer? Do you need to use a surface primer if using the Rustoleum chalk paint if preparing to paint and decorate glass bottles with Das clay? Thanks in advance for your help in my understanding. Love love love your work!
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Polyvine is better quality, matte, non stick and food safe hence I used it for the final coating. Wilkos is gloss, stays tacky for a long time before it cures and not as good quality. I applied it because it protects the paint before aging. So makes it easier to wipe away acrylic paint that I applied after. Paint wipes away easier off gloss varnish than matte:) You can use chalk paint or acrylic paint instead of primer but make sure you let it dry and cure for a few days if you can and degrease the surface really well before application. I use primer because I have it and it’s a product made specifically for glass so gives it the best chance of sticking :) hope this makes sense

I'm just starting out with varnish but finding it removes or streaks the acrylic paint underneath. Some people have said to coat a finished piece with modpodge before varnishing but you don't seem to do that. What am I doing wrong? I'm using polyvine varnish too.
@IvetaZiedina4 жыл бұрын
Could be that you’re varnishing too soon after application? Or the quality of paint itself. That’s what usually happens to My projects if I don’t let paint set for at least a few hours before varnishing
