Lyrics: When you walked alone to leave your life at home You really wanted to die And if you hoped to hold the key to eternity You really wanted to die Can’t count your blessings saying goodbye Did you really watch your desires resign? In the case of a wandering eye And when you fell to Earth and lost the love to love You really wanted to try Can’t count your blessings saying goodbye 39 by design Did they beam you up into the lights in the sky? If you could take a polaroid of your life, would you cry? Would you make them stare into the whites of your eyes? (Eternal point of view) And when you came to turn the hands on the sands of time You really wanted to die And then you showed them how you felt It was so hard to break the spell You just wanted to die Can’t count your blessings saying goodbye Really just a roll of the dice When truth or lies will make you cry Really doesn’t make a lot of sense Too tense to recompense Really just a roll of the dice When truth or lies will make you cry Really doesn’t make a lot of sense The end we’ll all be cleansed

Some details in this video you may not have noticed: In the beginning of the video the character wearing glasses has a purple cloth pulled over his face and then bolts upright appearing to gasp for breath -- like he'd been holding it. The 39 people who died did so in stages with those that died later putting a purple cloth over the faces of the people dying before them (except for the last two). Also, they tied a plastic bag over their own head after ingesting sedatives to ensure that they would asphyxiate after falling asleep.

I'm going on 55 this month and this is just bloody brilliant. I can't describe how much I love this, how it makes me feel and what it makes me think. It's so original, yet speaks from a time already lived. To me, this embodies the darker/more thoughtful edge of the 80s and 90s that never quite made it through the tidal wave of crap-pop that emerged as a reaction to the starkness of the 1970s. Thank you Dais Records - you have a gem in Drab Majesty and I can't wait for more of this amazing act.

I can’t thank Deb and Mona enough for giving me the opportunity to experience such an oddly nostalgic feeling for a time I didn’t get to experience in a truly meaningful way. I can remember being a young child in 1990 and hearing Enjoy the Silence blasting from my big sister’s room and loving it. How my sister must have felt to have a synth wave group like Depeche Mode to fall in love with, I now have the same in Drab Majesty. @DCM88 Those cults are hateful and want to hurt people, so I doubt he'd be into it. Drab are sweet boys. So to be more precise... the "gothic" genre is about what Victor Sage calls the "dark epiphany," which focuses on the sins of the past, and on the evil things that people do with power. And there is usually a measure of terror and horror at these tragedies, one or the other, and sadness. That's very different from being in a hateful cult that takes pleasure in hurting people. That is not a good thing, and it's very sad to see people sanctioning things like that in this day and age. If you take my advice, I wouldn't dabble in things like that.

This is f****** mesmerizing...this song, cold souls and not just a name has been my poetry inspiration on my ig. This is the best music i've come across in the last 25 years. It slowly tears the soul from you, rips it apart and pieces it back together💞

The Heaven's Gate has always fascinated me since it happened when I was a teen. I just recently noticed that this mass suicide happened around the same time, withing 2 weeks, of the infamous "Phoenix Lights" event where thousands of people saw a craft of some sort. Maybe they really were taken up. @_@

Discovered this hidden gem on a random playlist and I’ve been listening to it ever since. I love the synthwave vibes and the visuals. What a great group!
