PART AVAILABILITY I get comments here about Daisy not having gun parts. Parts for CURRENT PRODUCTION guns can run low here and there. JG Airguns is an alternative for KEY parts like the chamber seal. O Rings CAN BE STORE BOUGHT. www.jgairguns.biz/880881-c-78_186_197/dai880cs2-chamber-seal-check-valve-p-11831.html Know that JG does have $15 minimum order. That is ok. Stock up on 3 chamber seals - that is worth 3 880s. 3 entire 880s cost $90 to $120. Your JG order, in total, will be around $27. JUST RINGS: For basic o-ring change out, they are standard Nitrile from the store. The Danco #11 for your pump tube, #7 your snap in valve (SAE 113 and SAE 012). www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-200-Piece-O-Ring-Kit-34443/100135126

Cool video. Daisy has always been the best place to get parts and a great price. The only time I had to order a Daisy part on e-bay was a spring for my Daisy 179 ( my first ever BB gun when I was about 10 years old in 1977 ) Will be doing a video showing that gun soon. Great work!!!

Great video! I have a 1983? 880 that I bought as a kid and just pulled out of the attic. No diamonds on the forestock, metal receiver. It needs a new wiper and didn’t hold pressure. I used your video and some #11 O rings. I used the #7 O ring. I used the #10 O ring behind the chamber seal. That worked great for one shot! Now the air doesn’t go past the chamber seal. It seems to stay in the tube and escape again when I open the pump on the next stroke. Any suggestions?
@daisy880fanaticfixit94 жыл бұрын
Mike, the channel isn't really set up for those discontinued brass tube guns. But lets see what we can do. I try helping the brass owners, but other parts go wrong - like in back of pump tube - that the revised 880, over 20 years old, does not suffer. The good news is that you should go back into your gun and undo the chamber seal hack. That video is dedicated to an 80 year old who did make that work, along with a few others when that seal is really dead. If you can NOT get air past the chamber seal, that hack isn't called for here. Leave your other new O rings put. Good job there. For an oldie like that you may need new screw in valve. That part is also different from current production type. If after you undo chamber seal hack, if it still doesn't work, contact JG Airguns for support and parts for your model. I have video on that company.

I was looking at my 11mm receiver rail and thought it looked funny, so I put a ruler up against the sides and found that it pointed slightly to the left of the barrel. In your experience, is this normal? I was thinking of ordering replacement parts or sending my 880 in if this is abnormal. I haven't measured the angle or anything, but I might also end up using my open sights or adjusting my optics if it's unavoidable.
@daisy880fanaticfixit94 жыл бұрын
With the modern plastic receivers, problems can arise. My 77xs, that cost a $100, had cracked receivers. They had to be replaced because the stock was loose. I recently had to replace the stock itself. It literally fell off the gun onto the ground. That was on top of having to clean out the gun and replace seals. I feel the employees were hard on it at the sporting goods store. My 77 is finally at a 100% now. On sending it in, no need for that. You can order new recievers. The 880 is very user friendly. Even if you are a white collar type, it is easy with practice. My newest 880 video on the stock covers your recievers - taking them on and off. Check the screws near bend to make sure they are in right. Left/Right Receivers w Saftey - $8 Just make sure to say 880. They made it faster so you don't need part code. 479-636-1200. Before 5 pm weekdays. Before 3pm Friday. Arkansas time. By the way, the Daisy hard sights are surprisingly good. I have 4 880s and 2 use only open sights. So long as you use a magnifier for small windage moves, they get inch accuracy up to 15 yards. Can accuracy up to 25 yards. If you are determined to use optics, I like UTG, which can deliver dime accuracy at 15 yards, you will want new receivers if your scope just can't make the needed adjustments because of misaligned rails.

great video and wonderfully done, my problem is that every time I call them they are out of stock.
@daisy880fanaticfixit93 жыл бұрын
Vincent, dealing with any customer service can be dicey. But things do do go out of stock, need to be restocked. In this case, you shouldn't need a new pump head. Just O ring. Your Nitrile Ring can be cheaply bought at the store - either Danco #11 or #7 or Storehouse SAE 113 and SAE 012. A method that definitely works is CARGO SHIPPING. Find low-price or refurbished 880s and buy 2 or 3. Take one cleanly apart and save the loose parts for fix jobs. Has the bonus of same day fix! A Daisy 35 also works, other than this pump head. The 35 contains many crucial parts that do transfer.

I have had to replace this part with an older brass tube 880. It appeared the original owner used something other than non-detergent 30 weight motor oil for lubrication. The rubber spring turned to gum. I have purchased the rubber spring to try to replace but do not have access to a vise for compressing it onto the pump head. I purchased the pump head assembly from Daisy and could not have been more pleased with the part. It worked like a champ. I am going to tackle repairing the original with a new rubber spring, (purchased from Daisy Customer Care), and will let you know how it goes. Wish there was a video on that, hint hint. :) Also, you mentioned you had a source for parts for the older 880's. Can you let me know that source information? Thanks.
@daisy880fanaticfixit95 жыл бұрын
Mike, thanks for a quality comment. Yes, you had to repair that rubber spring because of poor care by previous owner. Crosman doesn't want you using oil like 3 n 1 or WD-40. That applies to Daisy too. Good for orher stuff, but additives not great for pump guns. In your case they likely used Break Free or other harsh firearm oil. Here is info on JG airguns to help brass gun owners. I made sure to give you crucial part, but feel free to browse site www.jgairguns.biz/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13712 Sorry, but won't make video on sharp shooting rubber spring when most will be better off replacing entire pump head unit. @@mikenewlin3421 Just to double check, daisy sells the "rubber spring" buffer by itself? My circa 1997 880 has the new style setup but the piston is flat top without the limiter void cut into the piston like the one in this video. I want to keep the non-limited piston so I can't just replace the entire assembly. Compressing it should be simple, just two C clamps evenly tightened down on each side of the piston and buffer washers, no?

@@daisy880fanaticfixit9 Will do, to uninstall and reinstall the original elastomeric spring I used a clamp with some rubber to protect from surface marring (cloth or leather would also work) to evenly clamp on the piston head and brown metal arm and could easily slide the roll pin back in. With a new elastomer spring it will require a few more turns of the clamp for more compression but shouldnt be an issue. I could only see damage being caused by not centering the clamp or trying to brute force the compression with your hands/blocks of wood causing the brown metal arm to be bent. Cheers! edit: a composite plastic pistol grip clamp would also probably work and have no chance of marring. Dewalt, bostitch and a ton of other companies make these types of clamps quite cheaply as well. A common old C clamp is what I used but I didnt have a plastic clamp available at my location.

I have an old 881 and Daisy told me they no longer stock parts, are the parts the same for an 880 and 881? I’m glad you have this channel, I shot this a lot and was really happy they are cheap and easy to fix, I’ve hung on to it all these years in the hope of doing just that.

Bigmuddy, thanks for keeping your head and temper in check. I know that older men, who grew up with brass-tube type 880s, feel abandoned by Daisy. I had many angry guys get on here. The engineering since 1995 is superior, and an 880 at Wal-Mart can go as low as $35. They are better.. But your gun has sentimental value. Hope you aren't too mad at Daisy Ladies. They can't be tied down on guns they can't support. Here is where you go for Brass 881 like yours www.jgairguns.biz/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=13712 Yes, it cost some money but it will get your old buddy working again! For a much cheaper fix try, if it is only O rings, Nitrile rings from store will work if that is it. #11 Danco or SAE 113. The treasure chest kit from Danco it best I've found. I show it in multiple videos. Also had one older gent help with hack video for your 881. Look at my library.

@@bigmuddy1 The chamber intake cup is what gets worn out and stuck on those older 880's and 881's. It is an inferior design compared to the new ones. I tried to modify my old 880 metal receiver halves to fit with the new model valve body, but it didn't work out. The breech on the new ones is a little bigger, and won't fit the metal receiver. That sux because the 881's had that cool brushed silver look. Keep looking and asking around though, maybe somebody has figured out how to install a new model valve body into an old 880.

Howard, don't give up yet! If the O ring in the pumphead is swollen from a Penetrator (wd40), put some motor oil down the tube, stand the 880 up, and then use your strong arm to pull up on the lever arm. A $40 pump head is major rip off! The trigger parts and loading rod should still work if ordered through Daisy reps. IT IS THE VALVE THAT COULD SINK YOU. JG Airguns has ok prices, but the screw in valve was replaced by the snap in FOR A REASON. Folks would over pump, leave it pumped too long, and the threading could warp - bye bye gun. Great, question! Metal sides, metal pump lever usually means it is pre -1995. Those are brass tube models with slightly different engineering. Open your pump and shine a light in there. @daisy880fanaticfixit95 жыл бұрын
Sorry, my brain wanted to see "7'". Ok here it is - the pump head in your 35 has metal plate in front (better than 840) and no need for 880 "buffer" so it saves you one less part that can fail. It is riveted to your pump arm. If it is not shooting well, oil wirh 30 to 10w ND. If that does not work change both o rings since you will have to diassemble any way to change pump head ring. Congrats on 35 in that it s super easy to work on, even easier than the 880. On trigger, I can give you order number. Only through Daisy. EBay will be much more. Same trigger as 880. On ammo, my only choice would be JSB Heavy - awesome power and accuracy. With no rifling, it likes long heavy pellets which slow it down but increase accuracy - making it more like a powerful 1910. Daisy 880 Fanatic Fix It I certainly do appreciate you getting back with me and giving me the info I needed to get myself back on track with the 35c👍😎 it was the tapered washer so i did your Stuff an O-ring behind it MOD it definitely did the trick. but I’m pretty sure it’s state is my fault I did the old if it’s good enough for my guns it’s good enough for the bb gun bit and of course that’s what i used to oil it and now all the o-rings are pretty much wasted. i have the large harbor freight kit and I do agree the tolerances are a little on the loose side. I just ordered a OEM Daisy kit and that danco o-ring kit you got. I sure hope that tiny little O-ring that’s on the slide or bolt to seal the breach is in that danco kit it wasn’t in my harbor freight kit. 🤞 mine definitely wasn’t sealing when fired i could see a small mist of oil coming from the breach.
