@@WilliamStoneContentZone Technically true, it was only aired as a paid ad once, on the "NBC Monday Night Movie" TV program. But that one airing created such a stir that being pulled after the one showing created a sort of a "Banned in Boston" effect, with people who'd missed the original airing wanting to see it, and the network news shows obliged, showing it during newscasts as part of coverage on the controversy. So a lot more people ended up seeing it than the initial audience on the "Monday Night Movie."

That commercial(became known as the Daisy, Daisy Girl or Peace, Little Girl ad) was shown once and there was so much of a controversy, that it was pulled from broadcast circulation, but different media, like the nightly news, talk shows, and news broadcasting agencies, kept it in the public eye by so-called discussing and analyzing it, a loophole on keeping this commercial in the public eye.

It should be a mandatory, core part of high-school education. So many, Americans are bereft of critical-thinking skills and compassion.

@Trey Atkins It plays on irrational fears, and that only assures votes for somebody who can't win on his merits. Johnson was far worse than Goldwater as a warmongerer; Johnson actually used (now documented) lies to bring us into Vietnam. Is that the type of result you are hoping for? I was prime fodder for the cannons of Vietnam, and in the lottery my birthdate came up #1 in the first year. It was the next day I found out the following year applied to me; I was actually #225. If you are willing to put people in positions like that because you are easily misled by your irrational fears, please do not vote. You are unfit for the challenge.

Johnny Pastrana is right - Johnson was the warmonger, probably the worst in the US since Teddy Roosevelt. On August 2, 1964, while Johnson was finishing out his temporary presidency as JFK's VP, he inflated the Maddox incident into the Gulf of Tonkin Incident as casus belli, bringing us full force into a Vietnam war. The Pentagon Papers and Defense Secretary Robert McNamara's testimony in 2003 confirmed Johnson wanted a war and was determined to go to any length to get it. Beware the lies you accept; they may come with an exceptionally high price. If you don't know both sides lie, we are wasting our breath on you.
