HotWax93 if you look at the political ads of the 1960's, they are the bar to be reached. i saw almost all, i think, and all are intelligent and to the point, without hitting you over the head. the LBJ and HHH ones are excellent to me.

bduhe219 I hear you. Some of my all-time favorite campaign ads/videos came out of the three presidential campaigns of the 60s. Kennedy's "Jingle" ad ("Kennedy, Kennedy, Ken-ne-dy for me..."), this one, "Confessions of a Republican" (another Johnson ad from 1964), Humphrey's ad where the man laughs at Sprio Agnew for VP, and Nixon's attack ad that aired on Laugh-In (Featuring pictures of Humphrey at the DNC placed next to images of the disorder at home and in Vietnam) are all personal favorites of mine.

HotWax93 i hear people brag about the ones done today, they obviously have not seen or listened to these from the 60's. these are the mold that others should be made from.

bduhe219 I don't think most campaign ads now are bad, but I agree that some of these were pretty good.
@hotwax93768 жыл бұрын
bduhe219 I don't have a problem with a candidate attacking his/her opponent, as long as it is focused on policy and not on simply making smears on character. Explain why you think your opponent's policies are wrong, don't just say things like "Candidate X hates puppies," or "Candidate Y is a drunk."

That one is real easy to re-make. Complete with the Gov. Romney reference.

I'm surprised Hillary hasn't remade it yet.

Ironic that then Gov. George Romney (R-MI), would have his son also fail to ascend to the presidency, Former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA). At least Nelson Rockefeller became Vice President under President Gerald Ford.

He had a pretty interesting life...George Romney was born in the Mexican colonial state of Chihuahua to American ex-patriots parents... allowing him to run for president in spite of his Mexican birth.

It is sad to see people Rockefeller was gone forever in the Republican party. Populism is a poison to our democracy.

And, for the worse; Goldwater's Acceptance Speech was the Declaration of War against the moderates in the Republican Party, and led directly to Reagan, both Bushes, and Donald Trump.

We're going to see a remake of this one in the fall too, especially if the GOP nominates Trump and it gets raucous at the convention

You have just barely "scratched the surface"; see my comments and replies elsewhere on Goldwater, and subsequent events. Our History as a country has not been covered nearly well enough, and has been edited, besides. We have been lied to, in some cases, by the very people we trusted.
