During Desert Storm, the Selective Ability function was switched off in order to allow the military to use civilian GPS receivers during the war as there weren't enough MIL spec unit to go around. Saddaam was hoping the Coalition would flounder in the deserts due to misdirection.

It was winter when I went through the combat infantry course (British Army) back in 06 and if you're out on open plains etc what's on the ground doesn't really matter, it's generally darker during winter and if there's any clouds etc blocking the moonlight, sound becomes more important than naked eyesight because you're not seeing much in front of you if you've got no optics etc with you. Then add the fact you'll be wearing camouflage that goes with the environment, if you know what you're doing you can move effectively if you take your time (to some extent). Keeping the noise down becomes the most important thing. We had a whole mix of terrain and any night training we did, the overall feeling of intensity was up to a whole other level when you're trying to spot fkrs creeping around and listening for any battle rattle, twig breaks etc, youd be surprised how far sound carries at times

Funny story about NVGs. I was a PL in the 82nd at a JRTC rotation (Big simulated combat exercise) and was using the PSQ-42 (NVG with thermal) we had. I watched an entire enemy platoon walk past me and my platoon's fighting positions as I was standing on top of a berm. I was at most 20m from them, and they never saw us, but we definitely saw them.

If you keep sending waves and waves eventually the ammo will run out and the Ukrainians will either get lucky by receiving more ammo in time or lose the position - everyone on the position, Russia has utilised their contractors out there so if the Ukrainians who are barely trained, they'd be going in with better gear. Do you pay any attention to what is going on over there? The guy said it was Wagner who were sending meet waves. He said the Russians are well trained. As for taking territory, Wagner took Bakhmut and then pulled out and either went to Africa or joined the Russian MOD. That is why territory is being taken, because it is Russian troops there, who he has again stated, are well trained. Wagner itself is no longer active in Ukraine.

Yes and it's all lies by a guy who hasn't been to the front. Storm Z units always had drones with vision guiding them. Also Brittish spec ops perform a lot worse than Ukrainian conscripts. This guy would have rotted in Bakhmut if he was there.

This is the most braindead comment ever. This is apples and oranges mate. Russia is a conventional army, they wear a uniform, they fly their flag and openly carry their weapons. The taliban would wear civilian clothing, walk past ISAF soldiers smiling and waving and set IED’s when no one wa looking. They would take pot shots at soldiers and then drop their guns and walk away like nothing happened because they know the coalition solders couldn’t touch them if they weren’t armed. They didn’t need NVG’s, they were on their own land and knew it way better than ISAF ever could. This is a completely different war and a completely different type of enemy.
