This is probably the most important and exciting moment ever documented about hawklets in an eagle's nest which I have been following for years in various nests - clearly showing that the hawklet is brought in as food and then the eagle's motherly instinct kicks in to raise it as an eaglet. A M A Z I N G ! ! ! ! Many thanks

If it happens a lot, I wonder if it's an evolutionary strategy. Maybe there are even pheromones involved on the hawklets side.

It's amazing how often this actually happens. Ive seen it docunented in at least 4 different nests just from various nest cam channels. If its happened this many times on just the few nests with cams i can only imagine how often it actually happens given the massive number of nests without cameras.

Thank you, Pamichen for sharing this fascinating (and tense) video. Lady Hawk posted your link so a person could watch how this baby hawk came to be a member, albeit unintentionally, of the eagle family starting from the moment Mom dropped it in the nest for Junior. It's been a lip-biting, breath-holding, and scary few days waiting to see what was going to happen next to the newest addition to the nest. But wonder of all wonders, the eaglet didn't seem to mind having a rival to the food deliveries or sharing the attention given by mom and dad eagle. I anxiously look each day (several times) for news from the GROWLS nest. I'm loving what I see. 😍

This highlights how much eagles prey on the young of other raptors. We’ve seen eagles snatch baby red tails and fledgling ospreys from their nests. Occasionally, as here, a baby hawk is raised (or at least partly accepted) by the eagle, but most often, they’re just food.

so special this family! 🥰 hawk was quite for sure brought in as food as this is what eagles are so often caught doing. Poor hawks nests get raided quite a bit. But luckily this sweetheart is so brave, strong and resilient...thriving! They definitely ended up adopting the hawk because of her begging for food. Being a raptor, they are accepted. It's sweet. One of the neighbours in the area would sometimes throw freezer burned fish out on the beach and these eagles would always swoop in for the free meal, scaring off the seagulls as it glided in for the free fish. I have a short video of this somewhere on my computer. Even though I'm against humans feeding wildlife I would have to guess that these extra free meals being handed out at the time most likely contributed somewhat to the survival of the hawk.

It's fascinating. I saw another story of Bald Eagles raising a baby hawk. But the hawk may have been placed there because it hatched from an egg after the 2 eaglets. But it was fed, and grew with the eaglets. It even fought for food against its " siblings". Learned to fly. That raptor thought he was an eagle. So cool. But it had 2 parents. Where's the other eagle? And why is that nest destroyed looking?
@Pamichen

There were two baby eagles, one died at 3 weeks. :( This hawklet sure had it good and now they fly free! The nest was taken down by a storm years ago and they rebuilt it. 🥰

The hawk-ling must have fallen from its nest and was snatched away by the eagle and the eagle saw that it was of like kind and may have also lost a baby previously and decided to take this one in because the baby it has left is alone while they are out hunting. So the eagle took this one as their own.
@Pamichen
@Pamichen 2 жыл бұрын
I have found out that red tailed hawk are a main delicacy for the eagle. They are known to snatch babies out of nest to feed their own as a process to learn to kill their food. Sad to me, but it's nature. This couple did in fact lose a baby...they stopped feeding it. That was extremely sad to watch. I do feel that because this hawklet stood it's ground, was brave and begged for food, momma took compassion and started to feed. Now it is one of her own. Very sweet. The hawklet is getting ready to leave the nest now. Fledging before eaglet. 🥰🦅

I am using it frequently right now. It can also be used orally. But I know very little about it. If you have never had issues from tylenol toxicity, you may be able to use the balsam gum or oil orally. I get mine from Camp Wander, but I'm looking for a less expensive, but reliable source.

My daughter told me to try to avoid oil coming out of Pakistan or India, since they are often diluted with cheaper oils. She gets ours from Camp Wander (spelled with an a). I am allergic to most nuts, and to CBD oil, so I use coconut oil as my base, mixed one to one in a roller ball applicator. A little goes a long way! I have much less nerve pain, but am not pain free. Depending on where you live, there may be some who are well versed in herbal healing with essential oils. Dr. Axe has some general information about copiaba and other uses and benefits. I've had some powerful medications that do nothing for nerve pain. This isn't medical advice. I'm just so glad it's worked for me. Be blessed. ♥️

When I don't use a roller bottle I waste a lot. Lately, I've used ten cc's in a roller bottle on most of my right leg and hip, 3 times a day, and reapply in the worst areas, usually my knee and a tight muscle above, the knee as many times as I wish day and night. In two weeks I've used less than ¼ of the mixture. At that rate one bottle of the pure essential oil could last me 16 weeks. I was afraid of the expense, but that's pretty cheap for the relief I get.
