Considerably high up in the trees. Eagles will re-use the nest for many years. They also do not have many natural predators at that age of life except other eagles. It all has to do with natural selection. You want some to die and the stronger ones to live. They have the best genes and will carry on a more sustainable generation. That is why so many people have cancer or natural born illnesses. There is no natural selection within human beings. We further medicine instead

The fox was highly likely dead before it even landed in the nest. The predator's talons are about 3 cm long and razor sharp, they slice through flesh like hot knife through butter. Piercing lungs and heart of the young fox, it probably didn't live more then a half a minute after being snatched. I sadly lost a kitten like that by a Forest Owl.
