hey i just received mine today, the 5000 model, but it makes weird noise when reeling, kind of like the gear and bearing is not properly greased or something, hard to describe but i was wondering if you encountered the same experience? thanks in advance.

Keep your old Certate. A lot of reviewers have said that the upgrade difference is negligible in real world fishing conditions.

How do you know if it’s shallow spool or deep spool?

The easiest way to tell is by the model code. Shallow spool reels will have an "S" in the model code and deep spool reels will have a "D" in the model code. For example the 3000D-C would be a 3000 size deep spool on a compact body. A 2000S would be a 2000 size shallow spool on a standard body.

Pretty cosmetic. No real noticeable difference when you use it I bet. Slight visual changes. If you think the 2019 drag is so bad you need an upgrade you're saying that all Daiwa drags suck. If you really wanna upgrade I'm sure the 2019 will take the same spool and clicker. 😂

I agree that a lot of the changes are cosmetic and that the 19 Certate LT is still an amazing reel. The 24 Certate has a lot of small improvements but nothing as game changing like when they introduced the MQ body. Regardless, the reel is definitely a good step in the right direction

These small differences are so irrelevant that it doesn't affect anything when it comes to reliability, performance or durability. I would only buy a new Certate in a different size rather than upgrading a 2019 model in a size you already have. The 24 Luvias or Airity ST (without magseal) would probably be more appealing to those who want to spend a bit more, but doesn't take anything away from the quality or pedigree of the Certate.

The reel has a lot of cosmetic upgrades and also a few key performance upgrades such as the ATD-L drag which makes the drag smoother and the Airdrive rotor which better distributes force along the rotor to put less pressure on the reel overall. Although it's not as game changing as when Daiwa introduced the MQ body and gears, I still think that it's an improvement on what was already an amazing reel.
