What leader length would you recommend for shore jigging?
@IsoFishingTV14 күн бұрын
Although it comes down to personal preference and application, I personally use 2-3m to help reduce line breaks, especially when targeting species such as Kingfish which have a tendency to go headfirst towards structure.

Hello if possible I have a question about the shape of a slow pitch jigging hook, mostly I see the more u shape hook I think very good for a hook up but also very good in having a snag. There are hooks where the point of the hook is more bent in, pointing towards the head of the hook. Are those preferable, less snagging and hopefully still the same hook-up ratio. Do you have a some experience with those hooks. Thanks.
@IsoFishingTV14 күн бұрын
I've had experience with both hooks and I'll have to confirm the snagging aspect but to my knowledge, a combination of the eye position (in-line vs offset) and the shape of the gape of the hook tends to change the hook set when striking a fish. I've had good experiences with both but have a slight preference towards the wider gape hook that has a point slightly bending inwards, at least when I'm slow jigging.

can i use an ISO rod for shore jigging? I have a Daiwa 1.5-53
@IsoFishingTVАй бұрын
We wouldn't recommend using an ISO rod for Shore Jigging due to both rods being very different in length, action, strength and tapering. We would highly recommend looking into a rod ~10ft long for shore jigging. I thought the 24 certate was a freshwater geared with the 22 certate SW as the current saltwater model as yet.
@IsoFishingTVАй бұрын
To my knowledge, Daiwa and Shimano have both started to stray away from calling their reels "freshwater" specific and changed it to "finesse" series. Although there are exceptions to this, the main reason is that the water proofing technology has improved quite significantly and has reached a point where their finesse series are suitable in both fresh and saltwater conditions. Regardless of the category of reel however, we highly recommend that you make sure to take care of your reel as well as possible in addition to making sure your reel is kept as dry as possible even while fishing.

Last year I used my ocea jigger 2000 HG for speed jigging GTs and other big pelagics up to 60 lb. You reckon the LD version will have a lot better torque and cranking power to pull up big fish?
@IsoFishingTV14 күн бұрын
Overhead reels in general tend to generate more torque than your standard spin reels (eggbeaters). The LD provides a similar level of torque and crank to the Ocea Jigger star drag model, given you're comparing the same size reels, however, the drag on a star drag is weaker and therefore it can fall short against those hard hitting species such as GT, Kings and Doggies. In situations like this, the Ocea Jigger LD with the stronger drag capacity can apply more force to the fish and up your odds of not getting smoked by something big.

These small differences are so irrelevant that it doesn't affect anything when it comes to reliability, performance or durability. I would only buy a new Certate in a different size rather than upgrading a 2019 model in a size you already have. The 24 Luvias or Airity ST (without magseal) would probably be more appealing to those who want to spend a bit more, but doesn't take anything away from the quality or pedigree of the Certate.
@bazkaknics6095Ай бұрын
24 Luvias is no longer made in Japan though, which will probably affect its resell value compared to Certate or Airity
@slyarsenalАй бұрын
@@bazkaknics6095 I totally understand and agree with your statement as I usually sell my gear once I get bored or I think it needs an upgrade. A lot of people however, buy such reels for performance and reliability. The humble Exceler reel was/is made in Vietnam and I thought that was a terriic reel for the price. There are other reels I've bought between Daiwa and Shimano that were made in Malaysia, China etc that were solid. Daiwa would have strict quality control in place to protect their reputation. Reels that aren't made in Japan (usually low to medium end) may suffer a lower residual value but it doesn't take anything away from their reliability or performance.

Just picked up a SW 6000-XH with a spare 5000-XH reel. You tried the SW yet? Seems perfect for ISO.

Good content. It's especially useful getting those comparisons between rigging options, as the reasoning behind those choices is rarely explained in other content. Other topics of interest are mostly Japanese fishing styles like eging and ajing, since they can be very gear specific but without a tonne of clear explainer videos in English.
@jinsu05044 ай бұрын
Wow i just got my certate last year ...is it worth the upgrade or should i just keep my old certate
@Nicholas-db5sl3 ай бұрын
Keep your old Certate. A lot of reviewers have said that the upgrade difference is negligible in real world fishing conditions.

How do you know if it’s shallow spool or deep spool?
@IsoFishingTV5 ай бұрын
The easiest way to tell is by the model code. Shallow spool reels will have an "S" in the model code and deep spool reels will have a "D" in the model code. For example the 3000D-C would be a 3000 size deep spool on a compact body. A 2000S would be a 2000 size shallow spool on a standard body.

Hi can you sugest which ld is better the hg or mg?
@IsoFishingTV5 ай бұрын
The HG is a high gear speed and the MG is a medium gear speed. I usually recommend the HG for jigging applications and MG for dropping down baits but the MG is also recommended when targeting species where you'll need additional cranking power
