Daiwa Fuego LT Review | After 12 Month Heavy Use | 2500D-XH Spinning Reel | Sri Lanka Fishing

Here are my thoughts on this reel after 12 months of HARD use!!! The pros and the cons...the good, the bad and the ugly !!!

I have a 2500 w 10lb braid. It's 2 yrs old and has caught 25-30 lbs jacks, 15-20 lb permit, tons of pomano,trout and snook and it's still working like a new reel. It's my favorite rod to grab. If you want an outrageous set up put this reel on a daiwa laguna 7'6 medium. It's a n inexpensive rod around $40 but m god the set up is amazing. I grab this 75% of the time over my stradics,Loomis etc.. you would not be disappointed.

I got the 3000 and 4000 fuego. I love them and they are my lower budget reels but they feel as good and preform as good as my more expensive stuff. You do get alittle flex from the 3000 also but nothing to worry about.

I have the 4000 and that reel flex like crazy. Was gonna get a ballistic.. but im hearing it flex as well.

I have four fuego. Best LT reel in Daiwa’s lineup. In the US, a reel service is about 50 - 60% of the cost so not really worth it to send it in for service and wait for weeks to get it back. Just maintain it yourself and discard when it breaks down. You can also buy the ferro fluid now from 3rd party now I believe.

Hi thanks for watching...the line lay out the box was top heavy..so i just simply added a spool shim (provided with the reel in the box) and this evened out the lay !!

Yea I hear this from a lot of younger guys. They typically seem to be more concerned with how much drag a reel has and lots of them have their drags locked down with too heavy of braid. Think about it. If you have the proper lb line and a properly set drag, the free e is NO WAY in the world the reel stem can break. It just ain't happening. It's the fisherman's fault.

Does that reel tend to flex a lot, it is the only thing that scared me off the Exceller(which is the same frame with almost the same internal components) Thanks for feedback

its not a big flex mate..just very slight...but flex will also depend on the stress you put on the reel. i've caught some 10-20lb fish on this so far and the reel's performed without any issue. i would imagine the larger sizes would have much less flex due to thicker reel stem..over all for the money..its a great reel!

HI that's the way its supposed to be...Fuego has the Daiwa's ABS spool which has a tapered spool..so its supposed to lay line slightly heavier at the top (similar to the taper on the spool)...but mine layed a little too much at the top..so i added a washer and it helped make the line lay less top heavy

Hi, you can use it for pond fishing..but I'd suggest you go with a 3000/4000 size for higher line capacity and drag 👍

@@kryptonitelegacy4050 yeah for pier fishing you'd definitely be better off with larger reel and heavier braid/leader mate (in case you need to lift/flip the fish). 2500 size is fine for inshore or fresh!

You shouldn't have added the washer. The line lay is SUPPOSED to be top heavy. It's Daiwa's ABS spool design (Anti Backlash System), intended to reduce potential for tangles and wind-knots. Next time you take your line off, look at the spool. The spool itself it tapered, it's wider at the top than at the bottom by a couple of mm. The line should follow the taper of the spool once it's loaded properly, it's not supposed to lay perfectly flat like you have. Most people don't understand that about this spool design and see it as a flaw. Google it, you'll see right from Daiwa themselves.

Hi, thanks for taking the time to comment. yes i am aware of the ABS spool. the issue i had was the line bunching near spool lip (line lay was not following the taper on the spool). casting it like so would have caused issues with wind knots. I had no choice but to try a spacer...the spacer basically made the line lay more or less like a normal spool(no abs)..but its been casting fine..
