In this video we disassemble, clean, lubricate and reassemble a Daiwa Procaster PM10S baitcaster reel.
If you like the video, please hit the like button and if you would like to see more of them, please hit the subscribe button. Young Martin’s Reels was created to honor my dad Martin B. Stivers of Louisville KY. He was an avid fisherman and repaired thousands of fishing reels in his lifetime. I spent numerous hours watching him do so, but I have forgotten most of what he taught me. Now that he is gone, and I find myself in need of reel repair, so I am learning how it is done and trying my best to pass it on.
If I can be of assistance, feel free to contact me Rick48cj2a@yahoo.com
I would also like to thank Dennis Kuntz of 2nd Chance Tackle. His videos have helped to fill in the gaps in my “reel” knowledge. Without his KZbin videos I’m afraid Young Martin’s Reels would not exist.

Thanks for the video. I got the pma10s for my birthday when I was 11-12. I was so happy. Traveled all over with it. Still works great. The anti backlash dial no longer clicks but still functional.

I have 6 of these reels and they're all in working order. I bought them in the early 80's. I still use two of them and I'm pleased with there performance. Keep'em clean and they last forever!

Dante, I like these Procaster reels. They seem to work pretty well and are very durable. I like the new bearings much better than the old plastic ones.

I had one of those reels, it was my favorite I used it for ten years. They work really well I wish they would reintroduce them but that’s wishful thinking.

I hope I can get it running. It is my first two speed reel and I'm not real sure how it is supposed to work yet. The parts are fitting together too tightly.

It isn't a pretty reel but it works great. The new sealed bearings helped a lot, I think they are smoother than the plastic and steel ones. I've got your name on it.

@@youngmartinsreels5314 one weekend I’ll head to your place and get it. Plus since I found my other bait caster, maybe we can find a nut for the handle.

What's the line capacity of the PM10S and would the PR10G have that same capacity and be able to use thos same new bearings?

I have no idea. I get the reels across my bench and I take them apart, figure out how they work and put them back together. I am not an expert at all.

You should have put some grease underneath the spool disengaging plate. It's rubbing metal on metal. It will wear there with no lubricant.
@youngmartinsreels5314
@youngmartinsreels5314 Жыл бұрын
Jim, I oiled under the jack plate instead of using grease. I feel two flat surfaces are unlikely to create much wear as long as they are oiled. Grease would be fine too but it’s difficult to get it under the plate without removing it. Thanks for the input.

I don't think it had ever been serviced, and I'm pretty sure it had some saltwater use.
