I have been seeing the growth of the BFS community the past few months and I am happy to see so many new folks trying out this niche fishing style! What about general feel and smoothness of the reels? I have an issue, have the 100HG Conquest and the Aldebaran BFS, I really like the 100HG for regular bass fishing, just hate to spend more on a BFS version when I already have the Aldebaran. Just hate to pay more for aluminum gears honestly

I remember when you first reviewed the Calcutta with its out of the box spool. It performed great once you had it tuned in with no backlashes and decently long casts. Do you think you’re getting big benefits out of that aftermarket school? I would almost just go back to the stock spool have fun and call it a day.

Out of box Shimano aldebaran 22 or conquest 23 do u think can caster lower weights with no mods other than being a round reel eye candy do u think casts better on ropes about getting conquest kinda pricey

Good video….i have both reels and prefer conquest for some reason, no difference in performance but I like the feel and looks of conquest. Conquest was impulse purchase and I’m glad I did it, never had round reel before and I didn’t realize how small conquest is. While it is heavier I find it balances better with my light powered rods which are around 7’ long

That would be my main choice and that style of casting. I myself can't roll cast tiny creeks and streams with trees around. This would be the choice 👌🏾 I'm just here preparing for something bigger. Everything has its place.

Thanks yes definitely takes time. Alittle too much time if you trying to bust of a video a week with other stuff going on. But the programs is use Adobe master suite Procreate Cut pro I'm still learning. The programs have change alot since I graduated from college in graphic design. You can do everything from ya phone now.

These are two very good reels, capable of casting from 0.5 ranges to 6-8 grams (well I use them like that and original, no bearings or spools changed) and they cast very well. I only fish for trout this way, in nylons from 10 hundredths to 16 maximum. On the other hand, your problem comes from the rods, which are too big and too strong. Try rods dedicated to trout ranging from 1.3 meters to 1.6 meters maximum, and you will no longer have backlash. Reels play an important role, but never neglect rods (resilience takes its full form in these conditions, and this is what will allow you to reach casting distances beyond 30-35 meters)

Good call on the rods but these are special designs for ultralight lures. Can't give out that information as for the backlash I'm finding the perfect setting with the bearing and spool change to match these rods. That I custom made.

I have the 23 Calcutta conquests maybe you can help me with this issue. I'm using a 1/8oz jighead paired with a 2.5 keitech swimbait and the spool doesn't drop down fast its always a slow drop no matter how much I loosen it. Also, the spool will blow up on the initial cast at maximum brake. I'm new to BFS but not new to baitcasting. Paired my reel with dobyns ultra finess rod

@@MrRednexus me, I cast 1,5 gramms to 7 gramms on all my reels (parts stock for all only my Izusu BC427 is tuned), I fishing only in nylon, small diameter, 10 to 16 hundredths, with rods to 1,30 meter to 1,60 meter. My reel are Shimano Aldebaran BFS Xg limited 16, Aldebaran BFS 17, Aldebaran BFS 19, Daiwa SS Air, Shimano Calcutta conquest Bfs xg and Izusu BC427 SSS

There's not much you can do to the SS Air, special on the spool, unlike the Conquest you can upgrade the spool to a much lighter spool like the Avail Spool or Roro Spool or KKR spool

Yes so I been looking at modifying a 28 mm spool required some cutting of the shaft on the sideplate side gotta figure out how much to shave off.
