I had several of the Daiwa SS reels (all sizes) bought back in the 80's (? or earlier [?]). I had to give them up because Daiwa (Australia) said they were an obsolete reel and parts were no longer available for them! And I needed parts to keep them going. Yet they are still on sale around the World! Amazing.

I have the 1300 model, and it wobbles quite a bit when I spin it. does your 2600 wobble noticeably too when you spin it? (not sure if the wide wobble is a feature of this reel type).

PK Yi I personally don't experience any wobble with my reels. Perhaps you've got a bad copy? How old is it? Thanks
@oregonlife8 жыл бұрын
Yea, it might be a bad copy. I sent it back and new one is on the way. It was new and haven't been used yet.

PK Yi hi yeah I would expect it was a bad copy. Hopefully the new one is ok let me know if you experience the same thing. Good luck with your fishing

I got the replacement, and it still wobbles. I read some reviews on cabela's and a couple reviewers mentioned that wobble as well. it seems the wobble is found on this particular reel - it is a very old design after. but overall, it is a sweet reel. the bail is surprisingly strong , and the drag is superb. I went ahead and got the 1600 & the 700. the 700 is a sweet little reel and I'll be using it for trout and panfish. I'll have to do a review on them soon. cheers.

I have been fishing the 700, 1300, 1600 and 2600 since they were made in Japan. I have the Taiwanese made as well. They are fine. The 1300 wobbles worst. A very small price to pay for all else these reels offer. I guide. Clients break stuff...not my SS series Daiwa. Utterly indestructable and one of the best casting reels you can buy that is this tough. Fantastic beach reel. Great flats reel. Many tarpon on these and a few sailfish as well. The only real improvement might be smoothies for fishing really light leaders,(Traces?) on hot runners like skipjack, GT or billfish.My stock 2600 handles sails and tarpon fine on 8kg. My Basia and Aero Technium Mg are the only reels that out cast it. Neither are as durable and they cost five times as much. Wish I knew more about you guys carp and match fishing. Really fascinating! Great review!

Nice reels these, whish I saved up longer. Coupled my scopes with Shimano Sienna 4000FE reels. Was to thorn between reviews of balancing/size casting etc. Just which Nash would bring a proper review out of the Nash BP6 reels. Good review 👍

Hi, great review! I was just wondering whether this reel would be suitable for my 10ft dwarf rods?
@kompletecarp7038 жыл бұрын
Keep it Carpy hi there, this real would be perfect for this rod as it is a very light weight reel. I've never had any problems with mine. Many thanks Sam

Do you think it would be any good for spinning for perch and pike? Thanks
@mastodonseven4 жыл бұрын
They are by no means the best or most smooth, it's the looks people love. They would work perfectly fine tho as the fish won't know what gear you are using.

Does this reel have anything that acts like a bait runner?
@simongrimes54786 жыл бұрын
charlie eccleston you can loosen the front drag to make it free spool but you have to tighten it back up when you need to reel in
@Backs4more6 жыл бұрын
You can buy new drag knobs from a few companies that allow free spool to locked up in one turn. Look up “speed caps”.

Is it true that it does not have anti-reverse?
@kompletecarp7039 жыл бұрын
+MingDa Wu it does have anti-reverse thanks
@nemo53358 жыл бұрын
+MingDa Wu It has anti-reverse, but not infinite anti-reverse. That means that it will backreel slightly before hitting the notch to stop it. Frankly, it's not a huge deal, and it's even a feature in some reels to ensure the line is always centered for better casting. Backreeling is a good tactic anyway, if well employed, so I think infinite anti-reverse is not only overrated, it's much more prone to breaking.
