Thank you for posting this very informative video about Iridotomy Laser Surgery. I had this procedure done 4 years ago and it resolved the issue that I was having with IOP to my eyes as well as resolving the "stabbing pains" that I was experiencing to my eyes. Local optometrists ran tests to rule out Glaucoma and the tests they did came back "negative" for Wide Angle Glaucoma, however, I went for a second opinion to Dr. Sanjay Asarani, an Othalmologist, he diagnosed me et solved the problem!

I just had this procedure today. I was nervous prior but it really was easy. A slight feeling kinda like someone was snapping a rubber band, but not intense. I saw a haze for a few hours and tonight I'm totally fine. I have to use eyedrops 4 times a day for 1 week. Very happy this narrow was found in advance, and the procedure was much easier than I thought it would be

I asked the Opthalmologist why didn't my local Optometrist diagnose earlier and he informed me that they didn't have the equipment needed to diagnose my condition. He also told me that if the condition wasn't corrected, that I could lose my vision/eye sight. IOP (increased occular pressure) can cause "stabbing pain" symptoms that will definitely "grab" your attention! Anytime you have pain in your body, it's alerting you that something is wrong...

I had this procedure done today. Wasn't too bad. I jumped a butt on that first hit. Before procedure, pressure was 20, after it went to 25. So they put drops, minutes later checked it again went up again, more drops combination if 2 meds. They said it went down to 29 so they let me go, I'm assuming ut must of gone really high for them to say I could go at 29. They sent me home with 2 meds. I had been told last year that I was born with that narrow opening. All that year I was stable, but this other Dr saw me last month and scheduled me. Got to go back in 2 weeks for left eye. Not looking forward to it. After it was blurry and looked like I was looking thru sunglasses, cuz it was a little dark. 9 hrs later it still is a little like that. So I hope I wake up to a normal state.

My dr. Left me with no after care instructions or what to expects. My eyes still hurt after almost an week. Go back in a couple of days for pressure check.

When a dr. Says "you will feel a little pressure", you know that means pain. It hurt! But for a few seconds, that's all. I'll take it considering the alternative!

I am having the surgery Feb 12. I'm pretty scared. Does the pain last very long?

Jacqueline, how was it? I am nervous because I have to go to an eye doctor to have my angles evaluated so that he can decide if I need this now, or if it can wait. Do you know how closed yours were?

Yes but there's also congenital which means that the person is either born with it or it developes very early in life due to a history of Glaucoma in the family. There was no known history in my case but I was diagnosed with it at the age of 3 months.

Exactly and there's a secondary glaucoma and young people like infants and children. I got glaucoma when I was 9 as a complication from my cataract surgery when I was a baby. It's called aphakic glaucoma which is part of secondary glaucoma. I want to spread awareness on glaucoma and young people like infants children and teenagers

Hi there. Could you kindly let me know that as I've been diagnosed with glaucoma. I'll be having cataract surgery soon. After that will it be safe to have laser surgery to drain water so I don't have to use drops. Will appreciate your guidance. Thank you.

My local Optometrist checked the IOP to my eyes to rule out Wide Angle Glaucoma, he did this test 2 times and did not know why the IOP (intra ocular pressure) was up in my eyes. (one of the symptoms that I was having was horrific "stabbing" pains in my eyes, moreso to the right eye than the left eye)...so, I decided to go to an Othalmologist who specializes in Optometry/Eye Diseases. My second opinion was diagnosed "Narrow Angle Glaucoma".

IRIDOTOMY REALLY HELPS BUT THERE IS A TENDENCY THAT THE PASSAGE COULD CLOSE AGAIN , SO THE BEST SOLUTION IS OR + THE EYE GTTS .

I developed narrow angled glaucoma as a result of HCTZ or a simple diuretic. If a patient suffers from a sudden onset of narrow angled glaucoma, please ask their doctor if they are currently taking any diuretics, and if they are...get them off the drug immediately!

Was your diagnosis Intermittent Angle Closure Glaucoma with the second opinion?
