I always only cared for the motorbike part of the dakar because of this guy. A truely likeble personality with huge fair play with is competitors. Thoughts and prayers are with the family, especially his kids. To became a legend, you have to die a legend. That's exactly what he is

In a world with so many people their aren't many who get to fully live the dream. If a man gets to live his dream he is filled with true joy. And if that man has a choice of how it must end I am sure it would be during the dream. My prayers and thoughts with those who knew Paulo and especially his family. Rest in Peace.

Every time something like this happens someone like you pops out to say this exact thing. In my very personal opinion you're 100% wrong. Don't you think he would have preferred to live with his family? Just because someone loves motorbikes it doesn't mean he wants to die while riding. I'm sure you're a good person with a good intent and I respect this, but seriously, don't ever say he would have liked this because you just can't know. I love Volcanoes, but i wouldn't chose to die in an eruption. People usually a) don't think about how to die or b) hope they will die without suffering. Although he was a "petrolhead", or whatever you want to call a guy with a strong passion for engines, he was first of all a person.

God bless. I'm reminds me of when Ayertan Senna or Dale Earnhardt died. I wondered if I would ever enjoy racing again. Decades later, it still makes me sad. Do i watch racing? Oh yeah, of all sorts! NASCAR to America's Cup, King of the Hammers to Dakar. Every time I see someone get passed, every sketchy corner, and every crash reminds me that they are pushing the limits. They are seeing the world in a way most of us never will. They are heroes. And they have a special seat, right next to God.

@@jasonpetrich4141 The Intimidator was an icon. I lived in Nashville when he died and I watched that whole city mourn. The Gaylord Entertainment Center had a memorial service and there were thousands of us, men and women, all races, all ages, all together with a tear in our eye.
