*Rating - 9/10* - I think this show wants to collect my tears & swim in them at this point!! They're triggering me SO hard with these feely feels! You get a very rambley rant from me at the end of this reaction. I enjoyed this episode a lot, it was great seeing Mary & Sam work together & it surprised me a LOT to see Dean & Mr K work together! That scene where the boys talk to Mary got me! I still don't trust the BMOL at all! I worry for what's to come with them.

Dean always just wanted a family, he wanted his mom back and he gets that and she immediately feels like leaving, and his deep rooted abandonment issues get triggered. So his anger and frustration is totally justified. Even when he does make his peace with Mary needing her space, he learns that she's working with the organization that tortured him and Sam, and has been lying about it, plus because of her Cas almost died. His anger is 100% justified, but Mary was very annoying. Her needing time to adjust and process is completely fine but lying and deceiving her sons, putting the people they love and care about in danger, putting them in danger as well...dick move. And Sam never knew his mother, so he doesn't really have any expectations from her, he doesn't remember her leaving him, he has no memory of it but Dean remembers every second of losing his mother, so yes him being the more emotional one in this case makes more sense.

Agree with everything you said. I was cheering at Dean when he let Mary have it. My heart went out to Sam as well, because given that Mary died when he was a baby, he never got a chance to really know her; so it must cut especially deep for Sam to know that she would choose to leave instead of giving him that much needed time and mother-son bonding. It would feel like rejection at the least or casual indifference at the worst, which is incredibly painful.

Mary always wanted out of hunting, and if the men of letters made the world safe, she and her boys and every other hunter would never have too again. It makes sense why she wants to join them, and with tensions high between her and the boys, she was scared of how they'd react, it's understandable. It's easy to just look at it from the boys side.

In the opening scenes, you mentioned that piercing look that Dean gave Mary. Mary’s actresses, Sam Smith, has said (paraphrasing) that she felt that look in her bones and had to ask Jensen if afterwards if everything was still OK between them because she felt like he was mad at her personally. Yeah, I would never want to be on the receiving end of that look.

You're right about the "tears" comment. I definitely get what you meant :) SPN definitely has that effect with its emotional scenes. Even when I don't enjoy the plot, I get sucked into the heavy atmosphere.

My only problem with the British men of Letters is, not every supernatural creature is evil. I mean, we have a few on our side, some that are good people. We've seen it before. And killing, EVERY Vampire is kinda a lot. We met that vamp nest in season 2 that were only eating cows, and Benny, not all of them are evil.

Sam buying right into it threw me off too since he's the poster boy for not all creatures are monsters. His hate for Benny was initially a massive WTF seasons ago especially after his season 2 nest safety plea, then think of his 'powers' making him hunted as well. Also it's like it doesn't seem to click that Garth (+ wife & kids) would also be eliminated.

I get Dean 100% in this situation. He is basically carrying Sam, Cas, and his anger. Sam may be more forgiving and understanding and I can understand that. Even when Mary was alive Dean has tried to keep his family together. When Mary and John got into fights he would be there for her. After Mary died and Sam and John got into fights he would get between them and try to stop the fight. Even if u think John was a good father or not he still imprinted into deans mind how much his father missed Mary, how much she wished she was back, and how Sam needed to be protected not only bc he's his son but bc he was the last thing Mary saw before she passed. I respect Sam for trying to understand Mary, but I also think it is perfectly fine for Dean to be upset at his mom bc she was the reason Sam whent through everything he whent through, she never even tried to understand Dean, and no matter what anyone thinks you never have to forgive a family member just bc they're family. I always end up rambling lmao.

What annoys me about Mary is that she's saying she's siding with the Brit's because it's the chance of a world with no monsters, yet her own sons took on Lucifer and Michael, and even worse monsters or entities - and won. I'd think that her sons would be the obvious stronger choice.

I think the beauty of SPN is different season's resonate with different people. I actually liked season 12 despite some of the issues. IMO even the weakest seasons of SPN (which I do not think 12 is) are better than most TV shows. I personally like Mary - yes she has made some huge mistakes but so has: Sam, Dean and Cas, they have also kept things secrets from each other.

Mary thinks that just because the brothers are grown they don’t need affection… she clearly doesn’t know that they didn’t have a childhood or got the amount of love needed as a child. The "I never was" truelly hit different. I just wish someone would have told Mary the truth on how neglecting John was and how much trauma the boys collected

Mary is acting this level of stupidity because she's desperate. Desperate to "solve" her sons "issues". She feels guilty for everything that has happened to them, for the lives they have. Even when they themselves are saying that they've grown to accept it in a way. They've started to grow and change and accept themselves. But Mary is so blind by her own guilt and trauma that she's isolating herself and trying to do everything by herself and oh going self sacrificial.. Sound extremely very relatable. She is a Winchester. It is what Sam and Dean have done before in their own ways. So I get it. I get Mary even when obviously it's not okay what she has done.

There is. This annoys me, cause it's like no one has given any thought past the boys. She's in just as much pain as them and doesn't know how to feel. But the men of letters are promising a world without monsters, she's always hated that she had to hunt and the idea that her kids would have too, and if the MOL is right, they and everyone else wouldn't have too ever again. And it would make up for some of the people she's hurt.

@@AmazonThese I meant real monsters. But Sam and Dean have tortured people. Lots of times, a couple members of the men of letters torturing someone does not mean they can't make the world safe from actual monsters. Regardless of what happened with Sam, that could still happen, no more monsters, no more hunting, for her or her children. Life especially in Supernatural, is not as simple as just being there for your kids, there's oceans of responsibly. This view of Mary you have, finest even really try to think of things from her perspective, the boys aren't the center of the universe, but most of what she did is STILL for them.

I dislike Mary and I also like her. She does have some really great moments, but also some really bad ones. I personally feel like the writing for her character is weak, but has a lot of potential. Also Samantha Smith does a fantastic job playing her!

Here’s another problem with 12. Dean was a spoiled rotten kid to his mother. I get what the writers are trying to do but the way it’s handled bugs me. Dean is being very selfish and hogging the love of his mother from Sam. I feel like Sam should be in his position since Sam never really knew his mother dakarajayne. Am I the only one that thinks that?

When did he hog anything???? Dean and Sam are victim in this situation none is hogging. Mary told Dean that he is not a child and he said he never was. Dean as a kid had always known about monsters and was blamed for everything and Sammy got to have a little bit of a childhood but just without his mom. A lot of people in real-life lose their mom but they still have a chance to have a childhood. All I’m saying is everyone is in their positions and are correct
