I mean they do deserve to be eaten alive, there evil....but, angel was becoming evil himself so I'm on the fence about it

I feel like commenting about this because im thinking about it differently this go around: While I whole heartly believe Angel cares more about the average human and I tend to believe he is the more morally intact character (hes also had more time to practice and exercise this). However, there is a good case for the prophecy being about Spike or "worthy" of it. For one, we know he values happy meals on legs, soul or no soul. As for reason number two, he technically did work for his soul, and perhaps by extension his humanity. Normally, I'd say he only did thay for Buffy, however, the prophecy states (according to Wesley) becoming human is a "reward." A reward for fighting many battles and apocalypses. Spike not only faught many battles and apocalypses with buffy, he also faught for the trials and gave up his life. Perhaps motive doesn't matter. With Angel, not only am I doubtful or at least hesitant to say he stopped an apocalypse (Jasmine...maybe) But he's also cursed. The only version of angel that really exists is a cursed version of himself. Can a cursed being qualify for a reward? Especially one like this with no prestidence. Maybe. We saw in the casino that even without a destiny Angel could still fight for his friends futures. Web also know that Angel felt called to the prophecy much like Buffy and Faith with the scythe. Although I dont really have an answer i think all this should be considered.

About 6 years late commenting this but these "monster of the week" episodes are how they build character development. If it was a plot heavy episode every week we wouldn't be as emotionally invested in them as people bc we wouldn't know them as people. Side episodes are what move character arcs along and make us care about them. Just my personal 2 cents...

The Turok-Han is played by the sane person as two of your favourite monsters, the Gnarl in this seasons 3rd episode and one of the gentlemen in seasons 4 Hush. Camden Toy played all three roles. He also appears in Angel season 5.

Couple of ficlets. The song at the beginning and end, "Blue", was written by Joss Whedon and Angie Hart and performed by Angie Hart who was the singer in Splendid in the Bronze in season 2 episode 19. This is the only episode that Nicholas Brendon (Xander) didn't appear in because he didn't have a ghost to haunt him.

Anybody notice the call-back to something Oz said to Devon in season two's "Inca Mummy Girl" with the tune "Theme From A Summer Place" when the girls see R.J.?
@derekgibson25892 күн бұрын
Yes, it is filmed in England, in Somerset, at Anthony Head's actual home.

I've never seen anyone mention the missing "Big Bad" ... Angelus!!! Alright, Drusilla's there representing season 2 but the real big bad of that season was Angelus. I guess they still weren't able to arrange a crossover.

A couple of notes on your thoughts. Nothing less than Tara's death allows Willow to go so far. If she'd only been injured then Tara could have stopped Willow killing Warren and going after the other two. This episode also proves Tara right when she said that she was frightened by how powerful Willow was becoming. In this episode Willow is powerful enough on her own to cause a spirit /god, whatever the apparition is, pain where she had to prime herself first to affect Glory. She only drains the dark magic books to fuel her rage.

I feel really sorry for you at the start of this episode. You look so happy with Willow and Tara back together but I saw the original broadcast, plus watching it several hundred times on DVD, and knew what was to come.

Speaking of Willow's parents it always makes me wonder if they disowned her because she decided to go to UC Sunnydale instead of one of the Ivy League Universities? we never hear mention of them after Willow starts college and it doesn't look as though they're supporting her financially. I don't think that they'd disown her over her relationships with Oz or Tara but I do think that they might over her choice of college. I know that Joss and the writing team probably never bothered with this but it's just my own rational for the Willow storyline because we get to know what happened with Buffy, Xander and Tara's parents.

For your info, each picture before the commercial is a code that spells out a common theme to each episode. You can research that on your own time if interested!

Funny how you say it is like Lost. The creators of Lost afterwards created this show, Fringe. Hence the simularities!!!

I saw an interview with John Noble (during the series initial run, I believe) in which he said that, on paper, the character of Walter was described as older and more menacing, while still paradoxical and unfiltered. John Noble brought so much charm and humor to the role that it heightens the dread in those moments of potential menace. The show would still have been absolutely wonderful if someone else were in the role, but John Noble made the show stellar.

18:45 - I think the scene where Angel comforted Wesley there is also him finally understanding on an emotional level why Wesley kidnapped Connor and went to Holtz. At the beginning of the episode, Angel chastised Wesley and you can tell he had some doubt and pent up aggression from what transpired with Connor's kidnapping. Eve even pointed that out too. Angel may have understood logically why but I don't think he understood emotionally why. In a way, that scene where Angel comforted Wesley was him forgiving Wesley too.

With the whole Shanshu prophecy, I personally like to headcanon that Spike indeed fulfilled it and became human. But to reward Angel for his heroism, his soul becomes permanent…and neither get Buffy, who settles into a healthy and happy relationship with Faith.

1:28 Years ago, it was 4AM, I had insomnia, and I was binging Angel. I was pleasantly numb and could feel sleep creeping up and taking hold. Her song was helping, and I was about to drift off. That all stopped at this exact moment. I have many memories of watching this series originally. This was one of the unpleasant ones.

I know I was sounding like a broken down record regarding S5, but I think the writing in the final Season is superb. What a brilliant follow up to the fantastic Lineage, again we have the Angel/Spike rivalry reignited, with Spike back to carporeal form, and just revelling in his solid state. when he walks into the door it's pure belly laugh slapstick. Once back in this form Angel and Spike's centuries old resentment comes back with Eve leading them on over Shanshu prophecy. Sirk tells them of The Cup Of Perpetual torment, and the feud goes into overdrive with a brilliant fight scene, fuelled to by the flashbacks of Spike seeing Drusilla and Angel having sex. Even though Spike is victorious, it us a hollow victory as the Cup was a fake and Sirk gone. A brilliant ending with Eve slowly making her way to bed only for Lindsay to be the driving force behind all this mayhem, a great link back to S1E1 with Lindsay introduced in the Pilot and back yet again for more double crosses and betrayals. Super writing and another great episode to follow too. ,S5 of Angel contained some of the best episodes ever in The Buffyverse.

Ah, yes, the slow burn of the Peter and Oliva ship. Walter does want them together because he sees how they fit and Olivia has been so kind to him and he wants his son to have something good for when Walter has to go away again. I think Walter lives in constant fear of having to go back to the mental asylum.

Wesley bumbling around is how he used to be, before he changed (got more confidence). Having his father around just blasts his self confidence into a wormhole.

I'm so happy you see the 😍 in Peter's eyes too. When the show first aired I knew it as Walter did that those two kids were meant for each other. But I also knew it was too soon for Olivia to consider "seeing" Peter that way because of John Scott. She did just lose him & found out he truly DID love her. So I was there for the slow-burn. But other reactors seemed to think it came out of nowhere. They didn't see Peter as anything more than a brother figure. I never understood THAT!

How you feeling about this? Just watched the first episode and it's pretty good! I think I was worried for both Dexter and Debs actors. First scene for Deb I was like oh man it's like she's playing a caricature of Deb, but by the end of the first episode she found her groove and I definitely felt the Deb from her, wven if she doesn't look like her much. Definitely sounds like her though, from the get go. For Dexter I also think the actor was trying to deepen his voice to match the cadence of Michael C Hall, but as the episode progressed I could tell he wasn't doing it as often and it felt more natural. I have no idea if they filmed in sequential order, but at least the way they grew into the roles felt like it was improving! So I'm in. Might wait until the full season is out though so I can just buy it instead of subscribing to Showtime ugh
