Dakota Ebare blasted his way through the MLF ranks to make it to the top level of the organization, the BPT (Bass Pro Tour). After two killer seasons on the BPT and over $700,000 in winnings, it looked like he had set himself up for a long career in the BPT leaderboard. Most would have stayed the course, but out of nowhere he has decided to step away from the BPT to fish the Bassmaster Opens in hopes of qualifying for the Bassmaster Elite Series! Ballsy is and understatement, but if anyone can pull it off he is the man to do it. We can't wait to see what he does with Bassmaster!

Nice job guys. Sounds like he has prayed on this and this is the right decision for him. I’ll be pulling for him this year for sure.

I dont get why most people are against B.P.T. Ive read all kinds of reasons and none are legitmate as far as B.P.T. being a overal bad thing? Its great for the fish, no doubt about it the best fisherman as of this erra now love it. Also, not Dakota, because hes been doing great, but most anglers that go back to BASS, (which i have no issues with either) usually are on the decline in bass fishing in general.

The common issue seems to be the uncertainty. The BPT has made major changes every year. From every fish counts to heaviest 5 and now back to every fish. The recent announcement to cut the field down to 50 in the future, then changing their mind again to 65. BPT lost a few of their best guys this year, Dakota Ebare, Jordan Lee, Cody Meyer. BPT is clearly a great platform to fish and make money, but it’s also clear that several anglers fishing it aren’t happy. We will certainly still watch both MLF and Bassmaster as we are fans of the sport

@thejuicepodcast278 Yeah i can uderstand that for sure. I guess on a good note, if theres 2 top series, theres more chances for anglers to be at a top level. But i didnt know they were going back to every fish, i definitely like the traditional 5 bass bag.

First time watcher of y'all's podcast. Dakota Ebare walking away from $$ to avoid negativity in his personal and professional life is amazing. That kind of example is the one that needs to be highlighted. He already won! Good stuff fellas!

@davidfuller4984 I'll admit that it's NOT what I expected to hear as the reason...but I'll take him at his word because I have no reason not to.

Viewing figures for the opens going to be just as high this season with Dakota fishing. Great story to follow. Don't worry about not fishing against Wheeler, he will be in the Elites within 5 years, so will Connell.

One common denominator of professional fishermen going back to basis is how they miss the crowd at weigh-in when they pick their fish up and the drama and everything like that. It would be like any professional sport where take Major League Baseball two teams are out there playing and there's no fan noise and that's what they want .
