I have never forgotten this show I loved it so much. Clarence was my favourite animal. He and Elsa from Born Free, opened up my deep love of lions. These shows should be mandatory for kids nowadays. Good clean, informative viewing. Wish they'd put them on again, us adults need to reminisce. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved Clarence The Lion too! It was a good show and talk people to be nice to animals. They should bring back these older shows instead of constant repeat of shows that have been on a channel for ever like Hogan's heroes please somebody take that show off the air!!

I remember watching this show when I was a kid. My family and I were OBLIVIOUS to the facts that the elephants and the tigers were Indian! I recall almost crying when I heard it.

Daktari was filmed at Africa USA. 40 miles outside LA. Was owned by Ralph and Tony Helfer who pioneered the teaching of animals by patience and reward. When Clarence had had enough of filming he just stood up and walked away. The late Yale Summers (Jack Dane) put it best : 'Well, would YOU argue with a 500lb African lion?'

Heh! I never saw it in color, either. I think the show was in color, but our TV set was black-and-white only.

Same here. We didn't get a colour TV until 1983 - although colour TV had been in use since 1975.

I got a stuffed lion almost as big as me for Christmas when I was 5. Guess what I named it? :-D And it was my pillow for about 4 or 5 years.

I've had this theme song running in my head for well over 40 years now. I found this because I recently discovered there is a movie called, "Clarence The Cross-Eyed Lion." Surely there must be a connection.

Wow...haven't seen this since I was a kid, that's been about 50-55 years ago.. I loved that show and always thought Clarence the cross-eyed lion was silly..lol. The theme music I loved also.."DAKTARI" when they said that, it was the coolest.
