Dal Khichdi written recipe by ChatoriChetna
Ingredients
2 Tbsp Ghee
1 Tsp Jeera
8-10 curry leaves
1 Tbsp Ginger finely chopped
1 Tbsp Garlic finely chopped
2 Tbsps Onion finely chopped
1 Green chilly finely chopped
1 Tsp Red Chilly Powder
1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Tsp Dhania Powder
1 Tsp Cumin powder
Salt to taste
1 Tomato Finely chopped
1 cup finely chopped beans, carrots and peas
1/2 cup rice
1/4 cup masoor dal
1/4 cup moong dal
1/2 cup toor dal
a pinch asafoetida
Water as per requirement - I added 4 cups water
Method
In a cooker, heat some ghee, add Jeera, ginger and garlic. Now add finely chopped onion and saute for a while. Add finely chopped tomato and cook for a minute. Now add the powdered spices like coriander powder, red chilly powder, turmeric and jeera powder. Cook for 30 seconds and now add the finely chopped vegetables. Now add the rice and dals. Add water and pressure cook for 8 -10 minutes. Garnish with ghee and serve hot with curd or pickle and papad. Follow @Chatori.Chetna for more.
