To all the comments: I know some more tips for you on doing a backflip. 1. Get as much height as possible. 2. Go straight up. Don't throw your body backwards! 3. Wait until you are almost at the peak of your jump and THEN go into a tuck. Tuck as tightly as you can! The tighter your body is, the faster you'll rotate. Just like in ice skating. 4. Practice at a gymnastics place if you can. The floor is slightly bouncy and will not only help you get air but also reduce the impact on your body if you fall.

As a gymnast for the past 14 years, please for the love of god don’t do this. It will teach improper form and there is a huge difference between a back hand spring and a back tuck. Throwing your head like that could lead to serious injuries if you don’t jump enough or balk in the air, so please stay safe and talk to a professional if your trying to learn a skill like that!

And many necks were cracked that night. Great video by the way! Very informative, I wish I would’ve seen this when I tried to learn. I landed on my neck twice, now my neck isn’t the same, got minor scoliosis. But that’s do to ignorance from my part, being young you don’t take safety measures. I hope everyone that watches your videos learns how to do a backflip they look cool, but are dangerous, so great on showing the safety. Side not, a man who knew how to do backflips died because he slipped, so he didn’t gain momentum to go back completely and landed on his neck and died instantly. True story, look it up.

I remember they tried to make me do this in cheerleading when I was younger without properly training me. I ended up banging my head multiple times and didn't want it to happen again and ended up walking away, feeling like a loser, because everyone else was able to figure it out and do it, which pissed me off, because I was actually trying. Turns out, I just needed someone to walk me through it. This made me feel better and like I'm not a complete loser and like I'm actually able to push my physical limits and do more than I thought I could. Anyways, respect to you, dude. Thanks for the tip.
