When a monitary fine is levied, the literal translation means legal for a price. Dale is right; hit them in the moment. That has the broadest impact and reach. I had to go looking for Hocevar's fine amount. If he had been parked for 3-4 laps, that would resonate throughout the field, the fans, and any future decisions about screwing around during a caution.

re: the hot races. in wec endurance racing theres a rule where the cockpit temperature may not exceed 90F or the car will be parked to get their ac repaired. Prototypes have to have ac to maintain the temperature limit. 90F is pretty "low"but this is mainly a concern because some races are 24h with 6 hour race stints

@@WillowCreative noone does a 6 hr stint. Thats not even legal. The max i think is around 3 hrs per stint. Maybe a little more based on how some drivers will do a quad stint at le mans with 45 minute fuel runs. 45 mins × 4 is 3 hrs. Maybe like 3 hrs 15 mins or something. Ive never heard of anyone doing more than 4 at a time and even that is rare. And they are absolutely wiped out after 3 hours

Hamlin also looked like he tried to spin him under yellow when he was doing that. Right before the last hit he swerved to the left and then got back on his bumper. I think Gabehart in his ear is the only reason he didn’t spin Larson

Here is a question for you in regards to penalties in the moment vs later in the week. Would you prefer NASCAR to make a snap judgement call with possibly incomplete or opinionated information and possibly make the incorrect call, or would you prefer them to take their time and weigh all the information and facts and then levy penalties as necessary?

Honestly, the whole reason we stopped going to joliet was because its too damn hot & humid there in july. I live close and ive never been able to deal with it. Then they put in lights, ran in september and it got down to like 40 lol. Ppl thought we were nuts bringing blankets in earlier in the day 😂 i think the merch guys had a great night for blankets and jackets that night lol.

On the hot races issue, there's really no reason we should be running Day races this time of the year in parts of the country where the daytime highs are regularly in the 90s. It's pretty obvious to me that NBC strong-armed NASCAR into putting this race to the mid afternoon because they prioritized the Olympic Trials.

First off. Jr you have alwsys been my #1 driver. I just think Logano's explanation of saving fuel is crap. Stumbled on turn 3. Again on turn 4 and all the way to the finish line. I agree with not changing any overtime rules. If course, if we had overtime back when his dad won the 500, maybe he doesn't. With that, how many more races would he have as he was incredibly awesome at restarts. Either race to the scheduled end of the race, or bring back the overtime line. I also think that in overtime, if there is a caution, they should race back to the Yellow and the White, and then finish under caution instead of re-racking the field.

Formula One has a great system of managing penalties during the race. I don't always agree with what they dish out but the system is good, and NASCAR should take a long look at it and adopt something very similar.
