Its easy to be a champion for the environment (which is very important) when you have a net worth of well over £100.000.000 but to the vast majority of normal people we cannot afford to switch over to everything green as its simply too expensive, we also need the infrastructure and a great example for this is electric cars but its simply not there not even close, the truth is their are already to many people struggling to feed their kids and themselves am sorry but its about priorities for so many and thats not to say people dont care because they really do.

The change needs to be driven by government and big enterprises, they have the power to drive real change. The vast majority of individuals can make no real difference at the scale that is required. It’s very irresponsible to say there would be no impact on the drivers hitting someone. How utterly preposterous. They would be scarred for life if they killed someone by hitting them at such speed.

I admire their cause, but there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. Where they were on the track, right after a corner drivers go in blind on the first lap, there is 100% certainty many would have died.

I have a problem with aggressive disruption as well because it alienates people from understanding or agreeing with the reason for it...but we owe it to our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren that we do the right thing NOW...because if we don't there might not be any great great great grandchildren...So those of us who believe that much more action to move away from fossil fueled energy IS urgently necessary now need to come up with less dangerous and more effective ways to highlight that necessity...upsetting or angering people doesn't work, it's counter-productive.

Targeting sport makes a lot of sense simply because there is a huge international audience and one of the main the goals of protests is to bring as much awareness as possible. The danger factor of it also heightens the focus and generates conversations like this. Honestly believe these protests are brilliant from a strategic perspective.

If you interupt major events people pay £100's maybe £1000's to attend these events and piss people off they won't listen, these "protestors" put their and other's lives at risk ...so imagine the protestor caused a crash killing people....that the kind of awareness that helps?

Awareness? What awareness are they bringing to the public. Most actually think the planet has heated up but are not aware that everything that is being proposed is based on a predictive computational models and not empirical analysis of temperature changes. The fact most are not aware means those that claim to be aware just lie.

Just like electric cars are ment to be "carbon neutral" but infact the sites where the cobolt (used to make lithium batteries) are gargantuan holes in the earth, use diesel powered machines to excavate and transport the raw materials to make the batteries are STILL USED in the process to make the batteries!! Its just a money making exercise for the electric car companies hence why every manufacturer has jumped on board but still produce petrol and diesel vehicles! It's agricultural farms and rearing cattle and such like that have the worst effect on the climate!! By 2050 making all vehicles electric will only decrease the raising temperature of the planet by 0.001% that's right 0.001%. It's a total joke

@@jakesnacks1149 I didnt say stop driving per se, but 50% of car journeys in the UK are less than 2 miles and can be undertaken by active travel. Dramatic reductions can be achieved with a little effort but most people cant be arsed because they are lazy. I got rid of my car ages ago, I now cycle, walk and use public transport occasionally. I am not a special case, it can be done by most people
