Another year, another $40 oil change on my 2015 x5. I come back to this video every time I am ready to do the oil change to remind me of the process.

Thanks for a great video. The BMW dealer here is a total ripoff artist. They charged my wife $202 (parts & labor) to replace the air filter in our ‘16 X5/35d. It’s a 5-minute job. They also charged over $280 for oil & filter and top off the DEF. next time I’ll do it myself and be happy to keep about $375 of that.

I service the X5 30d myself , twice a year . The Mann parts are well priced : Engine air , oil/filter , Cabin intake pair ( and in-cabin recirculate under the dash-footwell ) , wiper blade sets . I reckon I've saved USD6k on not going to a Dealer in 5 years . Use an Indy for brakes .

Back again for another oil change, but I wanted to add some info that others might find useful if they are following the directions exactly. If you crank the oil drain plug to 16 ft lb, it is going to leak. 25Mn is actually about 18.5 ft lb, so you need to give it a little more umph. I figured that out after seeing oil on my garage floor.

This walkthrough enabled me to change the oil and filter on my F15 40D 2015. Thank you so much for this.

Pennzoil Euro L 5w30 approved for LL04 is probably the best oil to use for a BMW diesel.

I thought it was 8mm that o need to loosen up the drain plug but you said 17mm. Can you confirm?

May I ask the oil for diesel and gasoline is the same in this case. 5W 30.
@OvensGarage3 жыл бұрын
You should use oil designed for a diesel.

I cross threaded my plug ! Any advice ? It rotates but not coming out ! Also some oil dripping from it ! Please advice
@OvensGarage3 жыл бұрын
You'll probably have to tap it up to the next size and get a bigger drain plug. Sorry about your luck.
@klajdistari8273 жыл бұрын
@@OvensGarage yea I remade the new threads and for some reasons it’s bigger than new oil drain plug so I put Teflon and it’s holding pretty good ! No leaks since one week ago

Another helpful video! Thx Could you do a brake fluid change and a fuel filter change video for the F15 X5d?
@OvensGarage4 жыл бұрын
I may do those soon!
@eugeneclark76044 жыл бұрын
@@OvensGarage That would be great! The fuel filer is the one thing that I really don't feel comfortable tackling yet. I think it may need a OBD tool or computer that primes the fuel pump. I may be mistaken. I've seen elsewhere where you can cycle the key 5 times and that does the same thing. I also have a F30 328d.

Thanks for information. I just curious what about the engine air filter? Is it okay without replacement air filter?
@OvensGarage4 жыл бұрын
You will have to consult your owner's manual to check the air filter life-cycle mileage/time. I usually change my air filters on my vehicles once a year.
@stefanum14 жыл бұрын
@@OvensGarage Thanks for comment. Actually I knew engine air filter life cycle my vehicle. The question means might be how to replace my f15 40d engine air filter. :) Anyway I'll figure out how to do.
