That truck exactly with a manual gear box is my dream. Still a bad rig!!!!! 😎

Id recommend a thin rubber mat to set the camper on when in the truck. Also making a mark on those slide out connections so you know where to put them every time.

Very nice setup. I can't seem to find a camper like that down here in Texas. Im looking at using a ex-military box on the back of my crew cab im working on. How high is that camper from the bottom of the bed to the top of the camper? And how top heavy is it going down the road? Great Video!

All these fibreglass Bigfoot campers were manufactured in BC, so there are quite a few around here. There's also a couple other companies like Somerset and Northern Lite that produced fibreglass truck campers. The camper is probably about just over 6ft high. I can stand up comfortably inside without hitting my head and I'm 5'11. I find the sway bar on the truck helps a ton with sway and you can hardly feel the camper on the truck. I just give myself a bit more stopping distance, otherwise truck hardly feels it.

Hi maybe you can get some of the roll bar Styrofoam to put around the chains so you don't damage the paint

I use chains and turnbuckles for mine. I have handcranks, old school. My camper is '89 on the back of my '90 D350 dually. Love just the way it is. Takes me about an hour...🤦♂️

Yeah I've probably got it down to a 30min load or so...definitely not fast! haha.

thank you for this informative video. is it true that you have to have at least a 250 to be able to carry a motorhome like yours? because I have a d150 and I believe that my truck cannot support the weight of a camping cell.
@OvensGarage Жыл бұрын
Yeah I would want at least the 3/4ton 250 to carry a camper this weight or higher. This camper dry is only like 1500lbs and it still squats the truck a touch.

I have a 92' W250 and wondering if you know the manufacturer of the frame mounts?
@OvensGarage Жыл бұрын
They are custom fabricated

What does that camper weigh?
@OvensGarage Жыл бұрын
Never weighed it but I'd guess it's around 1500lbs

@@OvensGarage Cool. So it's just enough to smooth out the ride. I have an older F250, and this channel has me thinking of options. I like the clamshell fiberglass construction because it seems less leak prone.

@David yeah they are great old campers. Not perfect but in better shape than most older campers
