I think I have this paint but in a different packaging. It was included in a Daler Rowney Simply Art kit. These are actually one of the best watercolors I own, but my others are just horrible so… Daler Rowney also has a tube set for their Simply line, which I have. Those don’t even feel like watercolor, they are streaky and have a gel consistency. I think this set is slightly higher quality than those chalky watercolor cakes that rub off on your finger. They are vibrant, but muddy easily. You have a lot of really nice paints so your view on these are more critical. Which isn’t bad, you deserve paints as great as your art!

I have not seen this video of yours before. But I am glad you came to the same conclution : Don't buy this set or other stuff marked simply from D&R. They make a student set named "Aquafine". It is not so bad and low priced but in my opinion not as good as W&N's student set: Cotman. And far from van Gogh who in my opinion is the best in the category , student quality I have tried.

quite good for somewhere between £5 - £10. when the pans are used they could be upgraded to aquafine ones and the little travel palette can carry on.

I have a set of Aqusfine and I also have tubes of W&N and Daniel Smith. I can't really tell the difference but only because I am very new to watercolors and the stuff I donis very basic hahah. Have you tried the Aquafine paints?

Las compré para iniciarme en la acuarela y a mí me encantan. Las de mayor calidad eran demasiado caras para mí. Por ahora estoy pintando dibujos muy bonitos y siento que responden bien. A mí me gustan, pero claro, tampoco tengo con qué comparar 😅

On video it's hard to see the difference, i know the Simply line from daler-rowney is the very basic stuff, but how do you dislike them? I saw that one yellow mix got muddy pretty fast, but the other neutrals seemed fine to me. What was in the paint that you didn't like in your process? (As it is something hard to capture on camera, it's a thing only the person handling the paints know...)

True that only the person handling the paints know the experience..and its hard to describe what i really don't like about these paints. Its a personal preference to like or dislike something and this is my verdict regarding this! Here is my view- It gets muddy very easily, the flow is not consistent like an artist grade paints, the light green is too weak, when i tested the vermillion the binder flows faster than the pigment, coming to the box i didn't like the design and the plastic feels little cheap and finally when i smelled the paints in the box it literally stinks (good paints barely have any smell)

Palette staining is so annoying! Many of the plastic palettes suffer the same thing. Though, cleaning with toothpaste helps sometimes.

I too tried this Simply line from Daler Rowney (the tube version) and for me they are the worst watercolors I've ever tried, unusable, they didn't even look like watercolors to me, but a hybrid of tempera and bad acrylic quality. But it's amazing how even with such bad colors you manage with your talent to create beautiful representations and shapes. Instead, the AquaFine line of watercolors by Daler Rowney is good, they are comparable to the Cotman line by Winsor & Newton.

I dont know what u was expecting from a really cheap set. Her in america you can buy this set, or tube versions at walmart for just a few bucks. They are fine for a beginner or someone who just needs some paint for a single project.

The student and artist quality material are good from Daler Rowney. Simply is their hobby beginners grade and the paints are not good, but the sketchbooks are good.

The Simply line seems very grocery store quality but I like the Aquafine. I have a set that looks like this with the Aquafine paint and it's not as weak; performs well for teaching my kids color mixing. It came bundled with the Aquafine watercolor sketchbook and that is amazing - it must have extra sizing or something because it's the closest to cotton that I've ever seen wood pulp perform.
