Famine followed. 4th Horseman - Its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed with him.

Just found you channel, great stuff! You mentioned a "mildly broken shifter", looks like an xtr? I have had three break, downshift/easier gear paddle goes dead and can't shift sometimes? Mine were all a small broken spring, same exact place everytime. got'em all warrantied.
@DaleStone4 жыл бұрын
Yep! Literally exact same issue here. Never fully diagnosed it but it was warrantied quickly and painlessly through Shimano. Not promising to hear it hadn't been fixed by your third one though haha.
@TheNickbb104 жыл бұрын
been pretty shocking to see them break so regularly, turns out my 30 yr old shimano 7spd shifter on the commuter actually better than the latest and greatest xt/xtr(first two were xt, then they upgraded me to xtr). Also had 2 of the new xt hubs crap out on me, started a forum on it if you're interested in hearing more. Going over to XO1 shifter/mech, see if its any better... forums.mtbr.com/wheels-tires/multiple-xt-m8100-hub-failures-1139315.html
@DaleStone4 жыл бұрын
Truthfully I've had more success with XO1 from a reliability standpoint, but I'm definitely willing to accept some warranty faffing for Shimano shift quality (and the multi-release shifter!).

One weekend last summer, I said to my friends "I want to go ride 5th Horseman." They were all up for it, but were surprised it was my idea. They all did just fine (rode everything but the spot Dale skipped), I got my ass kicked the whole way down. 5th gets harder every year, as it erodes and becomes more and more janky. Plus the older I get, the harder everything looks to me.
@DaleStone4 жыл бұрын
The erosion maybe balances out with the advancements in bike design! Haha
@tonyjofenig68334 жыл бұрын
@@DaleStone Yeah, it didn't really help me, reduced testosterone might be my problem.... The run out of the section you passed on has gotten worse and worse, the rolls just above have stayed about the same. The rock roll where your buddy hooks his front and lurches aquardly is easier, that used to not be a line, you had to go to the right of the tree there and transfer over to the rock. For reference, watch Kenny Smith if you can find it, he gaps it at ludicrous speed (granted , it's on a DH bike, but still).

@DaleStone4 жыл бұрын
New bike day is always exciting! I have 160F/150R. I would not want to go much less than this, but debatably good geometry is more important than depth of travel when tackling things at our speed. We aren't trying to set any records on this kinda stuff, leave that to the DH bikes.
