Thank you for an informative video. I live in East Java, Indonesia and garden centres are non existent. Here the plants need mulch to stop soil erosion in the rainy season and to preserve moisture during the dry season. Like you I use lemon grass, it is great for mulch and for preventing soil erosion. Also use cassava (singkong) here we eat the leaves also. For the pigeon peas does the pruning to produce mulch affect the harvest of the beans? Finally I have not grown arrowroot but I will. Here I also use greater galangal, cana lilies, sugar leaf and petai cina as mulch.

Great video, I also love Tithonia Diversifolia for this use because its root pulls in lots of minerals and its leaves are essentially fertilizer. Thanks!

Mate Tithonia diversifolia (always use lower case for species name) is a classified weed in Qld. Not suitable in the subtropics because of its invasiveness.

Cassava leaves are edible. Here in the Philippines, Bicolanos call it 'balinghoy'. It is the main ingredient in 'ginataang balinghoy'. I've eaten it once along with rice and it was really delicious.
