I have a big bush of it in a big pot in backyard here in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. My friend living few kms from me have practically a field of it since he doesn't grown it in pot but on ground where it spreads out uncontrollably! It's so easy to grow. We use it practically every day ( we are ethnic Malays of Malays, Malays use pandan leaves a lot in their cuisines). Each time I cook rice, I'd take 2 leaves, make a knot out of them, and dump them in the rice cooker together with the rice. It'll make plain white rice very fragrant. We also put pandan leaf knots inside sweet porridge (Mung bean porridge for example), nasi lemak (Malaysian creamy coconut milk rice), and in a variety of rice recipes including briyani rice. Otherwise we use pandan leaf juice as green coloring for many Malaysian dessert..

@Einstein Alberto Hmm. That's is strange. Pandan should be easy to grow. If you water it regularly, water shouldn't be a problem, pandan can also grow in aquatic and semi aquatic environment, so overwatering shouldn't be a problem. If you give food (I assume commercial fertilizer), that should be OK, but don't overdo the fertilizer, just a pinch would be OK for a 1 week or so. Try repotting it, have a good mixture of soil - black soil + some sand/grave + some cocopeat. Good luck, hope your pandan do better. Where are you at? Is your climate OK?

@Einstein Alberto You're welcome. Glad to be of help. I think your problem is overfeeding as you say it yourself. I normally just put a pinch of leaf-inducing fertilizer granules and a bit of urea (just a bit, not even a pinch!) around the canopy in my pandan pot, that would last for about 10 days. Sometime I also put a pinch of organic fertilizer granules, once every 10-14 days. But I water regularly, since growing pandan in a pot makes it easy to dehydrate the pot - many times my pandan wilted in the past because I forgot to water just a couple of times in a week, the Malaysian weather is really hot and heaty and dries up a pot real fast, but thankfully I was able to revive the dehydrated bush. My pandan bush is so healthy now producing lots of leaves which we harvest frequently for our culinary needs.

@@Mustafa-Kamal-Satar my grandma taught me howto grow pandan in a small swimming pools, She would mix compost with alot of water and stick the plants in, and they grew very well

I am from Malaysia but now living in Melbourne Australia. I have been growing pandan plant for years. A bit tricky due to cold weather in winter but if you get the techniques right, they will reward you with abundant leaves for years to come.

Asian shops sell dried "Pandan" leaf, in the spice rack, for curries, etc, and they also sell a "Pandan" essence kept near the "yod nam mali" jasmine essence that is used for sweet puddings etc.

Great starter video but hoping for more information on maintenance care for this plant. Yours look huge! The tips of mine are starting to yellow and dry and some of my leaves look bruised in the middle should i remove all the bruised ones. How can you pull the babies away?

Hi, how tall maximum that pant can be grow, and how long those leafs can be grow on the tallest pandan plant? in Indonesia I found Pandan plant about more than 300 Cm tall with longer leafs about more than 200 Cm , without spickes on the leafs edge, those aroma are similar but more strong than the smaller pandan they caled Jumbo Pandan.

I’m pretty sure freezing breaks the cell walls, so a frozen leaf would be fully dead unfortunately.
