Dali cargo ship set to be refloated Monday, weeks after the Key Bridge collapse

Dali, the cargo ship that crashed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore before its collapse, is set to be refloated Monday after nine weeks of salvage efforts requiring the use of giant floating cranes and explosives.

the "cause" was an electrical fault that tripped two breakers(should really only have tripped one). I believe it to be because the breaker electronic control module had the wrong settings(not uncommon). BUT if the engine had mechanical coolant and oil pumps(like most cars) then it would not have shut down, even with power loss. Poor design with single point of failure.

The power losses at the dock were because they had 2 generators quit. One due to a fuel leak, and the other because a crewman blocked off its exhaust by mistake. The 2 power loss incidents while underway were due to breaker problems. The real issue was that the main engine required electric oil and coolant pumps to run. If it had mechanical pumps, then even without power the engine would not have quit.

That sounds like revenge for revenge's sake. Sure, fix what's wrong (and make damn sure the fix is good!), but that's no reason to scrap the whole thing. But lots of people will be calling for that, even though there's no real justification for doing so.

It will take years to sail that ship on ocean voyages it has too much damage even getting it to float and back to the port is a endeavor that might take days unless they finally get the ship to float but it won't be able to do voyages for a long long time

What the hell does that have to do with anything? People kissed their loved ones, went to work, and never came home. Unless you are a Native American, someone with your name once decided to come to America.

I started as a construction supervisor in 1974 and all my workers were white Americans. When I retired in 2019 all of them were Hispanic. Americans are too dainty to do that kind of work now. Hispanics are the backbone of manual labor in the US from what I can see.
