When Andrew Middleton took some of the Dali crew members shopping a few days before they sailed out of the Port of Baltimore, he didn't think he'd see them again, as they began what was supposed to be a month-long trip to Sri Lanka.
Two months later - they're back where they started.
Middleton was granted access to the ship today, as it sits in the Seagirt Marine Terminal. He was greeted with smiles from the crew members, including the ship's captain.

How about showing up-to-date video of the ship. Has the cargo begun to be transferred to the dock to the two other ships we, the followers, were told would happen? 🤔
@elizabethworthington9228
@elizabethworthington9228 4 ай бұрын
Hi - reporter who did the story here. I'm not sure where you heard about transferring cargo to two other ships. From what I've gathered, they are unloading the damaged containers but leaving the rest of the containers on the ship because they need the weight to sit low enough when it travels under the Bay Bridge on its way Norfolk, Virginia - where it's going for more extensive repairs. From there, it's unclear what will happen with the cargo. The shipping company said they don't have a plan for that yet; they're focused right now just on the continued debris removal and getting shore leave for the crew.

KZbin search for "Live stream Bridge Collapse Clean-up | Baltimore, MD" The live stream is of bridge site, but the Dali is visible at the dock in the back ground. It looks to me like they are currently removing the debris from the deck. Maybe after that is done they will start to remove the undamaged cargo.

I work as a cargo surveyor. I can tell you with confidence that most, if not all, vessel crewman spend at least 6-8months on a ship. Some with out even touching land because of immigration/visa issues. Simply put, if they do not have the temporary clearance to disembark to land, they remain on the ship. They are at sea for months on end sometimes. Trust me, they are all used to being on their ship for long periods of time. Some will go immediately to another ship after their contracts are up. You have to understand that most of the crew man are from very poor backgrounds. They constantly work so that they can constantly provide for their families back home.

Hi Elizabeth, hey there it seems to me the general public doesn`t understand that the crew of the M/V Dali does not meet the visa requirements to legally enter the US. Seamen have a very particular type of visa which only permits them to stay legally in US soil for a few days, I am sure their visas are already expired, consecuently they cant get off the ship, unless inmigration authorities grant them the type of visa which allows them to legally stay in US for some weeks, months etc. I am almost certain that`s the main reason why they havent been able to leave their ship yet, even almost two months after the horrendous accident with the Key bridge took place . My most sincere condolences to the families of the victims, rgs

Most of the crew would have nothing to do with the collision. Perhaps the ships electrician and the engine room personnel. We haven't heard exactly what when wrong. It could be the fault of Hyundai for poorly designed electrical breakers. At the rime the ship was under the command of the pilots. However they weren't prepared for a complete shut down of the mechanical systems.

Let me make this perfectly clear : this catastrophic incident was NOT an accident. It was someone(s) negligence. Were all federally mandated laws, safety regulations and protocol followed? Who greenlighted the Dali as seaworthy for a trip to SriLanka halfway around the globe when it's electrical problems were not resolved while docked? The Dali summoned escort tugboats while in channel underway seeking assistance. Why did the tugs disembark before reaching open sea? Coincidentally moments later the ship lost main power, then backup power and finally emergency power as well fail. 4 generators on a 9 year old ship all failed? It was reported the reason the Dali was in the port was for maintenance issues. 2 months Americans deserve all questions answered honestly and factually.

The tugs left because that's what they always do. The ship had a problem with one of the two power circuits, which caused the power to fail at the dock a few days before leaving. When it failed with the ship moving, the engineer reset the same system instead of switching over to the other. It blew again. It was negligence, but no conspiracy theories are needed. One component failed, not all 4 generators.

I'm awaiting the conclusinary findings from the FBI,NTSB and Coast Guard to find out who will claim the responsibilities for this negligence and what will be the consequences. One more thing.
