DALI KOUMBÉ: THE BLIND VILLAGE OF MAURITANIA 🇲🇷

In the most remote corner of the Sahara Desert in Mauritania, there is a small village, so isolated from the world that it is not even on the maps.
There isn't even a road to reach it. You must know how to reach it by orienting yourself among the dunes. This place is called Dali Koumbé and is a unique place in the world: here half of the population was born "without eyes" as they say, meaning blind. It would be a centuries-old legend that still struggles to be explained by medicine, enveloping this tribe in mystery. We ventured to the border with Mali to meet them and listen to their story.

"Blind" in the physical sense, but I'm sure many are "seers" in the spiritual sense.

Medical science can explain the ramifications of isolated generational inbreeding. 22:02 he could have explained that while still within his purification ablutions, as a muslim he can touch or hold any quranic scriptures, be it on tablets, papers or The Holy Quran itself. He himself has to renew them again in order to handle those religious documents by just performing the ablutions rituals, preferably with water. It usually takes less than half of a plastic water bottle in three minutes or less (we don't do speed competitions for stuff like that.) Great video, glad you could appreciate the landscape and show the necessary work to control the dunes movements around the roads. Thank you.

I don't agree that they live an alusion of a normal life, for them it is their normal. I was born blind and whilst I don't truely know what I believe when it comes to an afterlife/god/gods I wish them the best of happiness. I really like the documentary and think the narrators are awesome!

I am near blind and my eyesight is getting worse by the day. I'll be blind when I'm an elder. I hope to learn from you and I envy your persistence and grit.

Autosomal Dominant Condition. It will run in their families unless they stop marrying eachother

@@user-jd7xt5sm1jno they getting it from their parents. The chromosomes of one or both affected parents will pass on. If one parent is blind there is 50 percent chance child will have it. If both are blind , all children will have it. As they live in remote are and no education there, no one is willing to help

asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu it was very interesting but how come nobody reads braille like the kid said they want to read books so somebody should give them some braille books inshallah I am blind I read in braille and I also read Arabic braille!

I fell in tears 😭 watching this how a blind man be wise?! We call GOD when he makes the blind to see. Not making generations blind. What is wise?! It is probably a genetic problem. Are they marrying their family members? It may be something in the environment where they are born that is causing the problem. May God bless them.
