Heh, I actually had something similar to the first commercial happen to me at work. I had a kid in my office, applying for education benefits, he was maybe 19 at most. Long dreads, several piercings, tattoos, death metal t-shirt, the works. I'm in a suit and tie doing the paper work. He and his dad are sitting there while I do the paperwork for his benefit, and just casually ask him about his hobbies, he comments he's a gamer. I ask him what does he usually play, he named a few, and then said world of warcraft. I just grinned and said "lok'tar ogar" and he just grinned, clearly a horde player. He was pleasantly surprised to see a guy my age and appearance, having played the game. It was an amusing bonding moment.

I just want to clarify that while we all love taking sides, the game plays pretty much the same nomatter which faction you pick. There's slight differences storywise or pop per server but in overall it doesn't really matter much. And yes, I play both sides.

The celeb ads with chuck norris, Ozzy and so on really were the peak of advertising WoW to a broad audience. Even if u never were interested in the game u really wanted to know more about it. Brought me to try it. I always wanted to play it because of the South Park episode and the celeb ads. They were just hella funny and ridiculous. the Gnome mage ad really was the best ad I‘ve ever seen!

@@DaliborTruhlar You really should have tried it! It just was an experience back then. Sadly the old times never will come back and WoW nowadays stands in the shadows of its former self. Community back then was really strong but nowadays u can literally finish the whole game (Story, not talking about high tier endgame) without even talking to a single other human. It feels more like a RP game with a lot of weird names (players walking around without any interaction necessary) than a MMORPG. I‘m so glad that they released „WoW Classic“ with a like 15 year old WoW Version to play. It’s really necessary to work together and talk to people a lot to play the game. And that’s how they should have continued for the last 10 years. They just threw community in the trash basically and that’s just so sad. I just wanted to share the story of how WoW used to be and how it is now. Btw I really enjoyed the 2nd compilation you did! Left a like my man :)

I bought the Horde edition Dell when it came out (the one Ozzy is holding in the commercial). I was maining a Blood Elf mage so it was Horde. I used that thing until it died. We still have the backpack it came with, my husband uses it to haul his work computer unless we're going somewhere that my Lenovo Legion needs to go with me. And the metal mousepad is still used and the FigurIts of my Blood Elf is on the mantle, next to the Dwarf on the mount from this expansion. I wish I could have put my computer now in that case. It was so cool.

Funniest one I seen never appeared on TV, it was released on KZbin. It was for Vic Mignogna. I didn't recognize the name, but the voice was familiar but I struggled to place it until at the very end, "That's right I can even do alchemy." The Full Metal Alchemist is an Undead Warlock Alchemist.

Remember when my guild moved from one server that was too crowded and because guildmaster was friends with an ally the guild changed faction.. been playing with these guys for years (vanilla, tbc, wotlk) A year later they came back.. smelling all "nice" being all clean .. asking for keys to the guild bank.. I was like " Kek! "
