Tip top! I'll grab some popcorn tonight to watch this episode. Alex is a very capable driver, but I especially know him to be a very likable & passionate guy with some blood running through his high octane. Greetings to the happy few crew!

When it looks slow it is fast. There's so little drama when you watch him drive that car that you don't really see HOW fast it is. Then you see the laptime, and you'll be like: *_Oh..._*

What a cool car and cool driver. I'm surprised the standard engine and gearbox is such a weak part of the package for a car designed as a track car, but I guess it's only fair then to also point out that Dallara is a chassis company not an engine company.

I don't think people understand how good duratec motors are. Powerful, torquey, smooth, reliable. A honda motor is good but theyre waaaaaay more expensive, larger, and harder to manage vibrations.

@@mijnnaamisaaron The design already has cooling issue , how you going to cool intake temperatures when the external compressor doesn't get airflow ? Run a inter chiller and add more weight ?
@Hardys-Mods8 ай бұрын
i honestly would love to see an Porsche 6 cylinder engine in this or a Maserati 4200 V8.. I mean there are many options. But weight / money wise a k swap is probabaly the best idea. although something more unique would be also really cool. a BMW M3 3.2 liter 6 cylinder engine for instance with nice 360hp from factory for instance. Or a V10 R8/ Gallardo engine... Lots of cool stuff to chose from. and if this guy has the money, the end game would be a V8 or V10 Judd race engine. I heard the Dallara costs 200 to 450k on the used market. So planting a 10k engine into it. shouldnt be an issue .. and the Judd engines are 20k as far as i know (without mounting and working hours)

Great video but you have to feel sorry for the owner that Dallara picked some of the worst drive train known to man to install in the car . Funny they didn't keep it all Italian and install something from Alfa / Fiat . Would have been great to see how the underside of the car was doing after all those laps scraping out of the track .

Why he's on its fourth engine? It's a normal Ford 2.3 liter 4 cylinder, not a racing Judd V8/V10. 77.000 km should be fine with a single engine, maybe 2.

Crazy owner, but in a good way. Not many people would stick with the car after the third engine and gearbox change. But the downforce claims are a bit wonky there. 1000 kg at 260 kph is pretty much Dallara EXP level. And with 800 kg at 200 kph the car wouldn't be out of place on WEC grid with the hypercars :D
@alexstewart12128 ай бұрын
Yes you’re right they claim it’s 800kg at 260 not 200. 🙏 unfortunately one of the only things I haven’t managed to measure 😊

No one else is gonna say it, so I will... Why doesn't this car have a Honda K-series engine in it yet? You could make the same power, if not more, than you are now but NA!? And with boost?... Well, the sky's the limit! And, Plz don't misunderstand me, I love this car! It's awesome! And your mods are perfect! I just feel as though you could be making significantly more power and making it [hp/tq] far more reliably if you'd just moved to a K-series. But maybe I'm wrong? Maybe this option has been considered and rejected for reasons unbeknownst to me, and I'm always open to hear other's opinions and counterpoints. It just seems so obvious too me when considering power options with a small/compact footprint K is King..?

I would have thought that a K20 conversion could have been the best option, maybe with a supercharger to mitigate the lack of torque at low revs.
@mitchellsteindler8 ай бұрын
Switch from one ford motor to the other, more reliable one. Its easier. Same reason NC miata owners swap in 2.5 liter duratec or mzr motors instead of k swap. The price to performance ratio cant be beat, especially with upgraded cams, header, and intake, you have 250 hp AND lots of torque from a smooth, inexpensive engine.

Great guy. What I find amazing is that he talks about Dallara as if it was a second hand MX-5 project car. This car costs hundreds of thousands €. How did Dallara choose such a bad engine and transmission ? Unbelievable.

"Fantastic aerodynamics" with a targa roof? Well, i doubt that. I think the targa configuration destroys a lot of the possible aerodynamics and yes, i know that this Dallara has an outstanding downforce capability. Imagine if it had a hard roof and the airflow over the roof would be not so turbulent.... I think you as a driver are the central point of this unit. RESPECT to all the modifications you have done! You took a LOT of money out of your poket!! The engine being the weak point is a shame for Dallara. I´m sorry to write this! Yes, i know what Dallara is doing ... i know! But selling the people this product for that much money with a unreliable/bad engine would be a NO GO for me... But i wouldn`t spend 300.000€ for a car anyway. And for sure not for one, that`s getting full of water when it´s raining...
